Description:
It struck me how helpless we can feel watching our television sets as people all over the world grieve. Despair, even experienced secondhand, is very powerful. Regardless of politics, it's difficult to watch anyone lose lives and loved ones.

This was also my first attempt at doing harmony.

Lyrics:

Tears
Are falling on my cheek
Fears
Are making me feel weak.

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Briny tracks of regret
For what I can't forget
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

Years
Of living without hope
Sears
A global slippery slope

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Helplessly I watch you grieve
From Tibet to Tel Aviv
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

Here's
A prayer for release
Ears
Attuned to sorrow's cease

These tears are for you
These tears are for you
Hopeless victims, scared and poor
Praying for a global cure
These tears are for you
These tears are for you

Very Nice &mdash 10/22/04 - 09:56:50 PM
This is a very expressive work. I agree with the sentiments
completely. I think the lyrical structure worked very well
and it is a very emotional piece. Very reminiscent of some
of the folk songs of
the 60s. I think you vocal harmonies worked very well for
the song. You got some very clean sound using the built-
in eMac mic. Whenever I tried to use the built-in, I would
always get the sound of the computer's fan in the
background.

I think if I had to categorize it, I would put it in the Folk
category.

jgurner, thank you! I've officially categorized it as folk so thanks for that, too.
As for the pinhole mic, are you using the gate? It's in the menu with reverb
and echo and stuff. Play around with the settings. I also cut any dead time in
the vocal tracks, leaving only the pieces where there are actual vocals. In this
song, I recorded 4 vocal tracks, with 2 harmonies. I didn't copy and paste, I
sang each harmony twice. It gives it a deeper, more choral sound. I think with
all that sound it's tough to hear too much fan noise.

Thank you, gukkarma! I'm so glad you liked it. As for submitting, I think
things are slow. I put this one in on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Been
waiting awhile for it to show up. Like you, I thought maybe it was lost.

I don't have the album, but I'll keep an ear out for the song.

the vox tracks seemed to fight in a few places, like they
were either out of sync a bit or in sync too much. might
try adjusting the volume on the tracks so the background
& foreground voices layer more distinguishably. maybe
also toy with a slight touch of reverb on the background
which might let you get away with some overlapping-
could be a neat effect to play with if it works. nice tune &
message

_nderscore, I must have at least 4 versions of this song, each with a different
arrangement on the vocals (including one that brought the primary forward,
as you suggested). I couldn't decide which I liked best, so I had some friends
listen. The one I posted was the version they liked best. I got to the point
where I couldn't listen to it anymore, so I went with their decision.

this is beautiful &mdash 10/24/04 - 11:50:09 PM
dramatic lyrics. You have a nice sound here. I don't want
to get too much into technicalities because I just enjoyed
listenning to it.

Keep thinking about a project for you, haven't come up
witha decent idea yet. But I will.
