Description
This is a song about a crayfish named Crusty Bill, who I met on my dinner plate Christmas eve 2007. I befriended the poor little guy and felt deeply sorry for the brutal way in which his peaceful life was taken from him, and decided to put my thoughts into song. I came up with the tune after dinner and wrote the lyrics during the christmas eve service that night.
Crusty Bill currently lives in my freezer in a small tupperware container. I never ate him or any of his fallen brethren, and hope that one day humans and crustaceans alike can live in peaceful coexistence.
Production wise, this simple song was a good excuse to try out some new equipment. I really could have sang better had I more time and patience but the vocal track was all one take so I stuck with it.
Thanks for listening, I sincerely hope you enjoy.

Lyrics
I once knew a crayfish
His name was crusty bill
He came from the ocean, never caused a commotion
Underwater he had gills
Till one sad day they took him away
And boiled him alive
He tried to escape but it was all too late
There was no way he could survive
Crusty Bill why did you go, oh the times we had such fun
I loved you so
How could you know
That those days would soon be done
So that sad day we gathered
And said goodbye to Crusty Bill
Our hopes and dreams were shadowed
For his pinchers would always lie still
So we said farewell
Goodbye my friend
May you rest in peace for good
He was a proud crustacean, never went on vacation
Lived like every crayfish should
Crusty Bill don’t you forget the times we spent camping on the beaches of Denver
I’ll be just fine
Cause all your stuff’s now mine
But we’ll remember you forever
Crusty Bill
Crusty Bill

Till one sad day they took him away
And boiled him alive
