Description
Based on a conversation I had recently with an older WWII veteran. He described his days in the army as that of strength, courage, and in in odd way, invincibility. His fear then was in the unknown and what was to come later in life. Now reflecting on these thoughts, the once young and strong soldier was older, and medicallyl unstable. He told me how he was afraid of growing older and facing his failing health. His only outlet was that of fantasy - reliving his days as young, fearless warrior.

Lyrics
Born on his own battle field
pride became his captain
defeat ran distant during the stand
he built his castle
it was the strongest in the land
Questions became frightened
elusive became the answers
he was running from ocean of closing wall
imprisoned, from impending fear
of the unknown
Hold back the night
bring on my fantasy
you see I'm not checking out tonight
Hold back the night
time brings the pain in front of me
you see I'm not giving up this fight
He sits at home
hopes that he's forgiven
for the life he set aside
for his patriot mission
the time, it flies by
the scars, they hardly heal
indebted to myself
it was a strange and earthly feel
And I'm so scared anymore
thiis life
beyond its journey
is all my victory gone
or am I all alone
I don't know
I'm picking up myself
I'm going back
closing my eyes
I'm back on the attack
and it's alright for a while
and it's alright
pride became his captain
defeat ran distant during the stand
he built his castle
it was the strongest in the land
Questions became frightened
elusive became the answers
he was running from ocean of closing wall
imprisoned, from impending fear
of the unknown
Hold back the night

you see I'm not checking out tonight
Hold back the night

you see I'm not giving up this fight
He sits at home
