Description:
This is a song about filling time !

I wrote this song in 1991 and made a recording of it back in 1993. But that recording was really pretty bad, so I finally finished up a brand new version of it and thought maybe I'd post it here just in case you might like to check it out.

It's also the first of the two songs I played in the "Scott & Walker at the Ryman Theater" entry I posted in the Grand Ole Opry Challenge currently running here on MacJams. After you listen to this, remember to stop in at the Grand Ole Opry challenge and check out all the fine Country songs that have been posted by some of the best Country pickers on MJ.

Here's the address

http//www.macjams.com/...

Thanks for listening, I hope you like the song.

Let's just call this one Country

Enjoy

Ed

I've Got Time to Spend

Verse 1
I've got time to spend, workin' overtime.
I've got time to fix up the old car
I've got time to spend out with the boys on Friday night.
I've even spent some time down at a bar
I took the time to buy myself a mandolin.
Someday I'll spend the time to learn to play
I've got time to go and visit all my next of kin.
I've even found the time to kneel and pray.

Chorus
But a heartache always happens when I take the time.
To close my eyes and think of lovin' you
No matter what I do there is no peace of mind.
Cause all the time I've got, I spend, missin' you

Verse 2
I've got time to spend watchin' football.
I've got time to go fishin' if I choose
I've got time to go and do the things I'd really like to do.
I've even got some time to think of you.
I've taken time to play a game of checkers,
with the old men sittin' down around the square.
I've got time to sit and dream about tomorrow.
To kneel and pray to God that you still care

Repeat Chorus

Tag line

Cause all the time I've got I spend, missin' you

Thanks Micheal &mdash 07/07/08 - 04:34:06 PM
It probably has more to do with luck, and picking the right key than anything else Micheal. The type of song helps too.

Anyway, now that I've had a chance to brag on myself a little, I'll just shut up and say thanks again for the kind words, they really are appreciated. Glad you liked the song and the production.

Take care, stay well, and be cool,

Ed

I'm still learning to do this stuff, but finally, some of the old musical ideas and feelings are starting to come back as well.

It's amazing to me how much you forget when you don't make or record music for 12 year. It's like having to learn the old stuff all over. Thankfully I'm starting to remember again.

Thanks for the listen and the kind words my friend. I really appreciate you taking time to come by and check it out.

Take care and be cool Dick,

Ed

This is great. I love the vocal and the vivid, evocative imagery of the lyrics. Lovely instrumentation throughout and excellent sound, nice arrangement and lovely mix. A professional sounding track. Nicely done, my friend. Peace.

Thanks David &mdash 07/10/08 - 08:38:05 PM
This is another old song of mine, from 1991. I've done a couple of recordings of it in the past but they all sucked. So I decided to do a completely new recording with new instruments and a different feel to it and this is the results.

Having my iMac, Garage Band, and Logic has been a real help in allowing me to get the kind of back tracks for my songs I couldn't get before now. I always knew what I wanted, but never had a way to make it happen before. Now I do and I'm learning more about it with every new recording I do.

I'm really glad you liked this new version Dave and appreciate you taking time to come on over and listen to it.

Thanks again for the kind words my friend. Take care and be cool,

Ed

Well, we all need to take time when we can to just kick back and relax. If this song helped you along with that, then it's a good thing.

Really glad you stopped in for a listen, and for the wonderful comment Dee. I always love to see your smiling face in the comments section.

Thanks again for the kind words, they are very much appreciated. Take care, be well, and be cool.

It's a real! &mdash 07/15/08 - 11:23:52 PM
Are those drums programmed? The little drum break sounds a bit unrealistic. Other than that, this is great stuff. Very smooth guitars and fiddle, and you have a great voice for this stuff. Much enjoyed!

Thanks Vic &mdash 07/16/08 - 03:50:49 PM
The drums are a combination of loops and programmed drums, that might be what your getting on the drums Vic.

Thanks again for stopping in to listen, and for leaving the kind comments, they are very much apreciated my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the song.

Take care, stay well, and of course always be cool man

a noodle or two or three alomg with this
and thoroughly enjoyed it...once I had the hang ...really is it Ab Db and Eb......? or minors etc of that ilk or is it that
my geetar tuner is a LITTLE CRAZY....?...or is that just me?

Once again a really good production and fine playing ,singing and writing...

Thanks Chris &mdash 07/19/08 - 11:27:04 AM
When I did the song on the original recording it was just straight A, D, E and I used that track as a basis for this remake. The original is still on this one, and I just added to it and tweaked it some with additional instruments in Logic.

I haven't a clue why you hooked it up with Ab Db and Eb, unless, like you said, your tuner was lying to you.

Anyway, glad you had some fun noodling along with it. I guess that's what really counts. Also glad you liked it well enough to send along the kind words on it Chris, thanks again for that.

Take care my friend, and you better check out your tuner just in case.

See ya

Ed
