Description:
We have here a remake of "Back From the Past with a lot of new instrumentation and re-mastering. I wanted to kick the song up a notch or two and give it more energy and variety in the back tracks. Added Pedal Steel, and a few different lead guitar parts to it, boosted the bass and drums, and cleaned up the timing so it all fit together better.
I hope you like the new version, and I promise this is the last time on this song. ( ;-)
Thanks for listening,
Ed

Back From The Past
Words, Music and Arrangement By Edward C. Wemmerus Sr.

1st Verse
Every time I think I've settled down, -- And gotten my life - back on the track
It seems you always pick that time to come around
It's uncanny how you keep coming back
Every time you step back through that door, I know this lovin feelin can't last
The one thing that my heart can't stand, Is watchin you walk out again
You keep comin - back from the past
Chorus
Back from the past - like a haunting memory
Back from the past - will you ever set me free
If you don't love me - don't keep me on a string
And don't keep comin - back from the past
2nd Verse
I know someday I'm gonna be O.K. ---- I'll find a girl to take the place of you
And even though it won't be quite the same
Well at least I know her love will be true
So the next time that you walk back out that door
I'm tellin you it's gonna be your last
The day is comin sure as rain - That I won't have to feel this pain
When your not comin - back from the past
Repeat Chorus
tag:
Yeah baby don't keep comin - back from the past

Like I said in the intro, I wanted to kick this song up and get it into high gear. The other versions were too tame, but I think this one has the energy the songs has been needing all along.
I'm sure enjoying working in Logic now that I've learned a little more about it. The possibilities are pretty much endless as to what you can do with it if you just try.
Thanks again for the kind words my friend, they are always appreciated.
Be well and be cool,
Ed

I read the Blog about you and I have to say I'm impressed with your candor. It was nice to find out who you really are. I guess we all have a story to tell that's as individual as we are, but there always seems to be some things we all have in common because of the music we do.
Thanks for listening to this song, it's an oldie but a goodie. This is the third time around for posting it here, but sometimes, as you learn and grow, you have to go back and redo one every once in a while.
Glad you enjoyed the song my friend and sent along the kind words on it.
Take care, be well and be cool,

Glad you like the new mix my friend. I just couldn't let this on go the way it was, it was way too tame.
Thanks again for coming back for another listen Micheal, and for the kind words.
Take care and be cool,
Ed

Wow &mdash 07/10/08 - 07:03:20 PM
The sound on this is terrific - crystal clear and rich. Every instrument is there in all its glory. Very nicely done. And the song is great - love the lyrics, and the vocal delivery is spot on - just perfect for the tone of the track. Great arrangement and lovely playing throughout. Did I mention the production is great? Nice work, my friend. Kudos. Peace. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks David &mdash 07/10/08 - 08:26:09 PM
It was a long time coming, but I think I finally got this one right. I wrote this song in 1990 and have done about a half dozen takes on it since then, maybe more, I've lost track now. Only thing is I was never all that happy with any of them till now.
Now it has the drive and energy the song has been needing all this time. It may not be perfect, but it's gonna stay this way for a long time, cause I like it like it is now.
Thanks again for the wonderful comments Dave and for coming back to listen to it yet again. I'm really glad you liked the song my friend.
Take care, stay well and Be Cool,

Thank you Ms. Dee &mdash 07/11/08 - 10:00:49 AM
Glad you enjoyed this one too.
This is almost a complete remake of the original but I did use the original tracks for the vox and guitars part that was in it. I redid the drums, and bass, and added a few extra guitars and the steel to it. Worked out pretty good now that it has the energy the song has been needing all along.
Thanks for the nice comments Sweet Dee and for stopping it to listen. Love you smiling face here for sure.
Take care and be cool

Sometimes you just get lucky when you're doing this thing we call music. Most times I don't, but this time I think I accidently got it right. Go figure.
Thanks again for the kind words and for listening Chris, it is very much appreciated. I'm really glad you liked the song.
