Description:
I wanted to repost because i think this is a much cleaner version. let me know what you think.

Lyrics:
all i can say about religion

moments of pleasure turn to moments of pain
and i am going to remember your face
and i will always remember your name
turned out to be something different
than i might have thought it would be
something to learn
some thing to burn
i am going to hold on to this key
birds wake up so early
bird that ive never heard before
with my cigarette and my coffee in the dawn
outside my back door

so what is it that keeps me on fire
how did i get this far from home
thank god i am full of desire
thank god i know how to roam
i put all my possessions
everything i own
my four year old son and his water gun
in the car on a road to home
all i can say about religion
is that it is there at about every turn
twiddling it thumbs with all the bums
wondering if we will ever learn
sleeping your sleeping i love you
the simple touch of your skin
the void in my heart
is a pretty good start
lined up on the wall with kin
i tell myself that morning comes early
and that it is all mine
i wonder if others can see it
the fact that i just crossed the line
crack in the sky when i need it
dreaming of something i love
see some thing new and know that it is true
thats what i get from above
you know i know that you love me
it would be silly to think that i dont
for all we've been through you know just what i would do
with you i wont have to fight
you know ive been mistaken
ive been down on my knees
but i never have forsaken my love
the floods from up north will be coming\
pass through us and be on its way
and somewhere else you will be thinking
of higher ground and your deluge days
picture the fate of a nation
caught speeding like drunks on there way
like a river that joins other waters
destined for the ocean some day

what I like.. &mdash 07/09/08 - 09:29:21 PM
.... about this and some of your other songs is that you don't follow a set pattern. so there is a great wealth of variety to dig into while listening

excellent tune!

Interesting start, nice build towards the middle. When it first came on I didn't realize the song had actually started and thought it was something outside... hah. This composition has some great ups and downs, I didn't realize the brilliance of it until around the halfpoint when it really started to swing. Excellent balance between instruments here, although personally I think an authentic grand piano may have some sway over the keyboard, but its simply an aesthetic choice. Great recording skills, sounds professional. Overall great work.

Nice, very nice! &mdash 07/10/08 - 09:59:33 PM
Hey Tim, just listened to both versions and I like this one much better except for the "who the Hell knows" line was more subdued here and it really hit me strong on the first version; made me laugh with appreciation for the sentiment. Other than that little nit this has the space required to appreciate all the the great recording and instruments and especially the vocal-lyric line that is the reason for listening with you. Much more friendly to the ear; an audio version of a well composed photograph as opposed to a snapshot. Great writing again! Damn, I love this stuff!

Cool tune with serious lyrics...

This would translate very well to solo guitar and voice (talking performance). Yet I can see why you'd want all the tracks in there. They sound great...

Either way would work well in a live setting, imho...

Another one I missed.

You have a way with vocals that is unique, different, intriguing!

First off, the mix is great. The EQ especially on your voice seems really good. The harmonies are at a comfortable level. Very nicely done.

The piano and drums work so well together! The bass could be a tiny bit louder for me personally. The guitar is just about right. Yeah... I'd vote for a little more bass.

I really like the tonal differences between the guitar and what sounds like an electric piano somewhere around 3:30 or so. That was pretty cool. I imagined some guys on stage kinda noodling this out!

The ending is very cool on this one.

Nicely done Tim!
