Description:
Inspired by observing the curious habits of the human rockhopper in central Edinburgh

Another work in progress - this is the initial recording which only has 2 guitar tracks. Not sure at this time whether to keep it simple or add more. I will be re-recording this at some point as there are a few mistakes in this version - but I thought I would post this in the hope of getting some ideas back

Thanks for listening

Nice - wonderfully relaxing and somehow a bit Celtic.

I could imagine a reed sounding conterpoint to the main melody immediately - in fact (rather corny) I heard pipes :-)

Must be because I had porridge for breakfast.

Porridge !! &mdash 07/10/08 - 07:07:38 AM
Hi Cadman - you need to watch what you're doing with porridge - it can affect your senses if you're not careful (especially if you put sugar in it):-)

Thanks for listening and your thoughts - I think it needs something else, just not sure what. Maybe I can commandeer one of the busking pipers from the town centre for version 2 - I'm sure one won't be missed !!

Cheers

Beautiful tune. I agree with Cadman, it does have a bit of a celtic flavor. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I actually think a flute sound would be great with this. or maybe add some fiddle. Great picking on the guitars - it's too short! I really like this and am excited to see where you take it. What's a human rockhopper?

Thanks Kassia - flutes and fiddles are good suggestions, I'll give it a go and see what comes out. I didn't deliberately go for a celtic sound, so it's interesting to see that both you and Cadman picked up on this. I must be more influenced by traditional music than I thought

By the way the human rockhopper is my 9 year old son, who has the vertical mobility of a mountain goat. Most often found hanging out of trees - or on this occaison clambering up rocks in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

Nice tune &mdash 07/10/08 - 03:09:47 PM
Very gentle and peaceful, keeping it simplistic using only the two nylons guitars may be a good decision, although adding other instruments or even a vocal track could develop this into a very moving piece. You have alot of options here. Regardless, it has a certain UMPH to it that draws one in, and is very effective in keeping attention. Good work!

Thanks for listening - vocals may be a bit of a challenge for me as I'm not particularly adept at writing lyrics, but you never know

great &mdash 07/23/08 - 05:22:42 PM
Great use of two guitar tracks. They never get on top of each other which is what happens when i try two picking tracks together. I agree there's a celtic tinge to this. A great listen so thanks for posting

Thanks Steve, much appreciated. Again it's interesting that the celtic influence has come through as it really wasn't intended

like the two acoustic lovely sound. I Agree with the Celtic connection being a Scot I can feel the vibe. maybe i should play bagpipe on a remix, only joking hate the sound o bagpipes. keep up good work
