Wow! &mdash 07/16/08 - 03:21:42 PM
Cool percussion track.

Awesome guitar riffing. I like the raw edged sound of your guitar on this.

Interesting synth work in the background. Adds depth and texture.

Be well friend!

Unless I don't know how to count.... &mdash 07/16/08 - 05:38:14 PM
that guitar sounds like it's not entirely in sync with the drum track.

Cool guitar work though. It just should come a millisecond earlier or later.

I didn't vote on your track. At least the system tells me I didn't, and I don't remember doing so.

I don't appreciate you questioning my honesty.

You're a very mysterious guy. Who the heck would take a screen shot otherwise they were up to something... ?

Anyhow it would be nice to see the screen shot just for the laugh of it.

Great &mdash 07/19/08 - 04:25:05 AM
Cool guitar, as always.... And the sound on the guitars is great.... You're a hard working guy.... I like that.... And the panning in this, is good... the way one guitar plays mostly in one speaker, and another guitar in the other speaker..... Good work...

Hi Jakob

Thanks for your comment, that I'm a hard working guy. It's quite new, so yes I spend some time to progress.

Also thanks for comments on the guitars.

Stay cool.

OK. The bed for the song sounds great. For example, during the first ten seconds.

The guitar that enters at 10 seconds sounds about 6 dB too loud.

Also, the guitar doesn't quite fit the timing - perhaps it's simply a matter of slipping the track slightly earlier or later a small amount (a fraction of a beat). Or it might be easier to record the guitar track again? I don't know how you created this.

When the guitar enters at 38 seconds, there seems to be a similar timing slip.

The cymbals that enter at 54 seconds also seem to be slipped in time somehow. Again, I don't know how you recorded this, so I don't know whether trying to adjust the timing of track would work, or if it might be easier to try recording that track again. The way it is, the cymbal hits seem to be totally random - maybe it needs to adhere to the rhythm of the song bed more closely.

The guitar that starts at 1:15 is much better! Its rhythm much tighter. But the seemingly random cymbals played immediately after kind of ruined it for me.

At 2:11, maybe there is a cross fade? but the two tracks don't seem to be synched up. Probably just a minor adjustment would help there.

Anyway, I hope you understand what I mean. With more focus on the timing, you could turn this into a killer song!

thanks

Re: Comments &mdash 07/21/08 - 12:38:28 PM
I understand what you mean on the timing. Also the cymbals (experiment). I'll adjust that also the dobbel track.

I think I'll keep the 'tight' guitar as it is and then record the guitar again to fit into the rhythme.

Thanks very much for the thorough review on this 'song'. I'll try to make a killer of it on the next go, which will be a remix and new recording of this.

Be well.

Best regards, Gamborg

Nice but . . . &mdash 07/19/08 - 10:25:31 PM
I enjoyed the beat and all but the loop echoing at the beginning was too familiar from GarageBand. The guitars are neat but they're too loud with the sound balance and it also feels out of sync with the beat. Keep up the good work there. There's definitely potential to come in the future from you :)

Hi Kori

I appreciate your advices and will take them into consideration in the future.

Will work a bit more on this and make a remix later.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Take Care, Gamborg

interesting &mdash 07/20/08 - 12:31:03 PM
some interesting ideas happening. fun listen. maybe it could use a bridge or something, just to break off the root note for a moment.

and i wouldn't distrust vic. he's been here on mj for a long time and oozes integrity. just saying. thanks for sharing you tune!

Re: Interesting &mdash 07/20/08 - 04:08:05 PM
Hi 12parsecs

Thanks for the remark/idea making a bridge I'll consider it.

Regarding Vic I'm sure I'm right here. Look at his forum post What MJ Artist deserves a bomb run. And notes above. Maybe his been that but good companies also go broke now and then. I don't think you need to be Einstein to figure it out.

Are new MJ's welcome here ?

Best regards, Gamborg

welcome! &mdash 07/20/08 - 04:44:10 PM
absolutely, new mj-ers are welcome. in fact i'm new, so that's why i didn't realize you were new. :) anyway, welcome! (i shall check out the 'bomb' threads. i don't think ANYONE should be bombed, so i didn't even bother reading that them.)

ignore vote bombing - ignore votes &mdash 07/20/08 - 05:12:22 PM
Welcome the MacJams! I didn't realize you are new here. Everyone is welcome here.

Just my opinion:

I hardly ever vote anymore.

I also ignore the Ratings Pick list - where the songs are ranked by votes.

The forums and chats about the voting system tend to become emotionally driven and rarely actually cause any real changes. I suggest ignoring them for now.

I also suggest you start out by ignoring all that voting stuff for a while, at least until you get used to MacJams a little more. Only then you might give voting a try, if you feel like it.

What counts here is comments. Go visit the Music list, listen to some new songs and COMMENT. The artists love that - and you see they are likely to comment on your songs as well.

Most importantly -- Have Fun

Welcome the MacJams!

Re: Voting etc. &mdash 07/21/08 - 12:45:44 PM
Okay 12parsecs and SmokeyVW

I'll leave the voting system for a while on MJ and focus more on the comments. After all it's music that have to come from feelings and the heart.

I'll also spend some more time listening and comments. Despite the fact it's not lake of interest but my nature is more spending time on creating and make productions.

So thanks for the advices I appreciate them very much.

Best regards, Gamborg

nature.. &mdash 07/23/08 - 11:53:44 AM
that's my nature too. but it's good to get out there - as it usually draws more people to your stuff, which gets you more listeners and, ergo, more comments.
