Description:
Well here's another version...I used some of the input I got on my last version and fixed a whole mess of things. I'll leave the other one up for comparison's sake Parade with samples
I did add an acoustic guitar part and new a new string arrangement.
I would really appreciate your honest opinion about how I'm doing, because I am really at a loss as to whether I should hang it up with this one or not.

Lyrics:
Good morning world…Welcome to the parade!
I think you’d all agree it’s been a crazy day
I won’t deny we’re all a little shakey
When it comes down to dealing with the big boom
So I hold onto my hope and my humor
and now I’m goin’ to the zoo

Good morning world…Welcome to the parade!
There’s a pretty girl, shining like the sun today.
It’s all bravura nothing more than a charade
But that’s nothing to go into lightly
So it’s never what it seems to be up front
Don’t you worry, I’m goin’ to the zoo
Life’s constant tick tock just doesn’t stop
And I find myself in the big top… Center Ring

The monkey appears in a cameo…tapping the elixir of life
It’s a crying shame babe, but everybody’s got something to hide
Me, I’m watching for my right hand man…Heard he’s coming soon…
Got a bubble made of platinum…Custom fitted for you
It’s slight different this time around
Still I’m going to the zoo
Life’s constant tick tock just doesn’t stop
And I find myself in the big top…Center Ring

I have trouble with balance &mdash 07/18/08 - 10:09:54 AM
And I think I don't hear so well in my left ear, since it always seems like the left side isn't so present. I was trying to balance the different instruments in different sides and leave the center for the vocal. I was listening to some other recording lately where the bass was on the right, so I just sort of put that there, though I know a lot of the time the bass is centered, I guess to root the sound in the center with the low tone. I'm a little off-centered due to my hearing deficiency, I guess. I'm glad you appreciated it though, my friend! Thanks for the comment!

I like it Jim &mdash 07/17/08 - 03:02:34 AM
This continues to develop in a good way. At first I didn't like the bass in the RH - just sounded wrong somehow - but as the sound stage filled out it began to sound right. Maybe you could pan the bass to the centre in the quieter passages? Everything else sounds pretty right to me - great separation, clean as a whistle and really nicely played/recorded.
This is my favourite Parade.

I would not recommend... &mdash 07/17/08 - 08:24:16 AM
listening to this tune if you have hangover. And in that respect it's all rather evocative of 'the big parade is over' come down vibe. Right now I'm heading for the dark rum in an attempt to make life's endless tick-tock stop... or at east slow down to a reasonable pace. Great lyrics. Aw the best.

ha! &mdash 07/18/08 - 10:20:27 AM
Great comment! Yeah, I like the lyrics because I didn't write them, my teenage son did. I did some editing to fit my music but it's really his lyrics that started it all off. He's really in his own write, not a teenager anymore and he makes his own music now, but I always liked this set of words and was happy when I could come up with suitable music.

That is how I voted.

Vocals, implied mic placement and lyrics are what make this great. Everything is else good. No complaints. Your vocals are some of the best I've heard here.

I think I'll just collect versions of this song.

I actually LIKE the bass, but beyond that I categorically refuse to enter into another bass argument with you and Neil... I like your phrasing on it, especially as the song fills out...

I think you have a great vocal here, and I like the neo-psychedelic lead break a whole lot...

Need stuff going on with the snare that I would never have thought to do, or even envision...

All the guitars sound great. The mix sounds spacious and real.

People with GA3's should spend an hour or so every day feeling grateful. Sort of a spiritual exercise...

Need stuff? &mdash 07/18/08 - 09:56:07 AM
I think you might mean "neat" but I imagine I could need stuff too. I was thinking this mix is a bit bare, so I added the acoustic guitar at the last minute, and last night I played this for my brother Albert and he thought the acoustic was a bit busy. It works in the parts where I simply strum a held chord. The GA3 has a really nice balanced sound, so perhaps that's the way it should be placed in this mix. So this needs improvement, I think but I may just give it some time before I re-record that. Thanks for your comment!

The distracted typist... &mdash 07/18/08 - 09:02:12 PM
...strikes again... Yeah, it should've been 'neat'...

The old version popped up AGAIN on the office stereo system today. I like all the versions I've heard....

mix. the guitars have such a wonderful full sound. no problems with levels or production imho. the chorus is super catchy. The strings also strike a slightly improved stance from the Folk version. Less imposing, more blended

one teeny tiny thing that seemed out of place was the third guitar at the 2:15 mark. You're into the solo (nice)..got that acoustic doin rythym (spot on), and I can also here a third guitar (acoustic?) here, sort of bending a note (repeats?). Seemed to crowd the jam in the moment. In the Folk version it seems there, but lower in the mix.

still amazing that you can come out with all great versions, yet very different in their own way.

the looped bit &mdash 07/19/08 - 05:56:17 AM
that's not a guitar but a sample of voice that is looped, a bit one of the many vocal tracks of me singing "eh" at the end of a line. It's the only thing I kept from the original vocal tracks which were many. It's the things we hold on to that bring us down. Just ask those Titanic passengers!

I've already got ideas for a new mix, and I was trying some things out, so don't be surprised if something else turns up with this. Your comments are really helpful.

circus &mdash 07/19/08 - 09:43:02 AM
do you know phil roy? has a feel that reminds me of him. it has a lazy feel. at times it seems as though the drums are not in the same but only a small amount. the piano is just right. the guitar has a greta build and the scratchy cry at the end is great. more crying. circus of life

Hangover... Sot this day is a crazy day...But I like this a lot sweet production I'm sorry for my bad English so it's hard to give you the help you want.. But in my headphones the bass sounds too hard in my right ear a little bit... But that is just me and my ears.. Cool track like it.
