Description:
I've been playing in my little sandbox again, and this time I think the Zombies took over.

This is an experimental rhythm track I put together just to see what it would sound like. I liked it enough to post it for comments and a possible collaboration if anyone is interested.

What ever, enjoy the weirdness, it's all I have left of my brain now.

Ed

That's a good dance tune, Ed. &mdash 07/24/08 - 11:11:22 PM
I really liked the weirdness. But then, I may be sleep walking. Thanks for posting. It is fun.

Thanks Char &mdash 07/24/08 - 11:22:15 PM
I seriously didn't have any idea what genre to put this in precisely because it is so weird. But like they used to say on "American Bandstand" (now you have some idea how old I am), It has a good beat, it's easy to dance to, I give it an 8. lol

Glad you enjoyed my little experiment, and also that you found it wasn't dangerous.

Thanks again for the nice comments Char.

Be well and be cool,

Ed

Cool groove &mdash 07/24/08 - 11:51:02 PM
This is a good use of loops that has some cool sounds.

I guess calling this a cool groove might tell you how old I am too.

Interesting that you used so many of the loops in such short segments. That usually doesn't work for me because it leaves the piece sounding disjointed and unconnected.

"Old musicians never die, they just get stuck in an infinite loop on MacJams" Ed Wemmerus 2008

I know about cool too, but most of the kids here have no clue what we meant by cool back when. (Well, maybe they do, at least the musicians anyway)

I originally called this "Experiment in Rhythm" and one of the things I wanted to try out was using the short little passages to create a certain kind of feel to it. When I did it I realized it needed some strategically place synth pads to keep the flow going and to keep it from sounding disjointed. I finally got what I wanted and it was sounding pretty good to my ears so I posted it to see if anyone else like the sound of it besides me.

So far, so good as they say.

Thanks for listening Bill, it is really appreciated, as are you kind words on it.

you take care and be "Cool" man

Ed

An experiment in terror to my ears, but not really. I was just playing in the sandbox again and thought I share with y'all.

Glad you enjoyed the new track Feter and thanks for the kind words.

Playing with loops can be a lot of fun, ya know and I had some doing this one.

Take care and be cool my friend,

What Happend To My Brain &mdash 07/25/08 - 04:25:18 AM
Some 70's funk. Reminded me of "Shaft". I know nothing about this looping stuff but it sounded pretty cool to me.
Thanks and be well, Russ

It was just a bunch of fun playing around with this, so I thought I'd share the fun. Glad you enjoyed it and sent along some cool comments Russ.

How's "A Mirror Image" coming along? I can't wait to hear what you end up with on that, it's gonna be a great song when you get it finished.

Take care my friend and be cool,

Ed

Hey &mdash 07/25/08 - 06:15:06 PM
As I was listening to this I forgot who was playing. Not exactly a country tune :) The funky vibe is very infectious, plays well by itself with plenty of space for collaborators.

Thanks
Bill

Hello Bill &mdash 07/25/08 - 07:04:34 PM
I have been known to escape from the HoeDown from time to time, and in fact have several of these little junkets off the ranch plastered among the songs on my artists page. There's some Funk, Blues, R&B, Rock, Jazz, and even some attempts at Classical music hidden in there.

One of my thoughts when I posted this was to see if anyone wanted to pick it up and play around with it, maybe see what they can make out of it. Like you said, there lots of room to expand on it, so who knows, someone might make a hit song out of it.

Thanks for dropping in for a listen Bill, and for the very nice comments. It is appreciated my friend.

Take care and be cool,

Ed

Good grooving &mdash 07/26/08 - 08:12:28 AM
and not all that weird. The sound effects work well in this track. Nice stuff.

The Doctor is in the Laboratory again &mdash 07/26/08 - 12:44:17 PM
Weird Science for sure. I was just playing around in the lab, and all of a sudden this creature came to life. I'm in the process of trying to duplicate the experiment to see if it happens again. If I can get the same results, I'm thinking of publishing a paper on it in The Scientific American Journal.

Thanks for the visit Vic, glad you enjoyed the groove. Feel free to do anything you might want to with it if you like. It's out there for collab to anyone who chooses to use it. I appreciate the kind words and encouragement my friend.

Be well and stay cool,

Ed

Wow.. &mdash 07/26/08 - 09:03:27 PM
Ed you really amaze me with your versatility as a writer. I can always expect something professional and interesting as well as thoroughly enjoyable. The synth pads got a little on the heavy side a few times for my taste but, you're right on the money with those, they gave it a cohesiveness it otherwise may have lacked. Outstanding my friend. It's in my Itunes Jam folder and I will be jammin with it. Very cool!!

Hello Guy &mdash 07/26/08 - 11:23:45 PM
Sometimes I like to go and play with the toys in Garage Band just to see what I can scare up. This was one of those times. I find that doing this kind of thing gets the creative juices flowing, not to mention it being a hell of a lot of fun.

Glad you came over for a look see and a listen my friend. Thanks for the kind words on it, they are always appreciated. If you get the urge to take it and try to make something out of it, by all means have at it, I'll even send you the aiff file.

Be well and be cool Guy,

Ed

zombies are cool &mdash 07/27/08 - 12:15:20 PM
even the band by the name.

I don't find this weird at all. does remind me of some of new wave bands from the eighties. nicely done!

Well Vic, it's like this &mdash 07/27/08 - 06:33:04 PM
Weird as defined by someone 60+ is different then for you young Whipper Snappers. ;-) Whoo Hoo, I'm into new wave now. lol If I live long enough I'll get all the genre covered. Yeah that's it, Jack of all trades, master of none.

Thanks for listening Vic, and by the way, don't pay any attention to the old guy at the top of the page. We don't like to encourage him, he never quits once he gets started. lol

Glad you enjoyed my little experiment. It was a blast working on it and sounded pretty good so I threw it out here to see if someone wanted to take it for a spin.

Thanks again for the kind words my friend. Be well and be Cool,

Ed

Loose eerie keyboard wash and scratch funk; tight rhythm mix. Very nice.

There's a reason this is a tight mix, &mdash 07/30/08 - 03:23:47 PM
can you say spandex.

Thanks for the list and comments my friend.
