Description:
I think this is our final mix of this song. For whatever reason I never put a bass line on it? I'm a bass player. How did that slip past me?
Please let me know if the bass adds the bottom to it that it was missing. I think it does. I also decided not to add any back up vocals behind Carlo's voice. I think it deserves to be out there alone and vulnerable, anyone disagree?

wow! wow!! this is awesome sh*t, mang! i hadn't heard the other version, so i just checked it out. the bass tone is awesome - a definite keeper. this mix, though, seems a lot less bright. did you lose some high end in the eq dept?
anyway, i could see a compromise with the bass. maybe leave it out until 1:09. maybe even add another guitar off to the side to thicken it. yes, make that your thickening point. hehe. just an idea.
ps. brilliant vocal performance!
magnatone
wow - what a totally catchy tune! I'm tappin' my toes with pure enjoyment - nice vox and production - congrats!
Go_Turtle_Go
I like it a lot, a very catchy tune as Magnatone mentioned. I do miss the highs in the mix. Still, very impressed with it. Solid tune! Love, Marc

Thanks for the great suggestion. Until you offered it, I wouldn't have considered it. As soon as I hit play, I closed my eyes and waited until I thought it could pop in.... One Oh Nine!
I'll check the mix, but I'm pretty sure it's the exact file a bassline. I'm anal about labeling my files whenever I make changes, but that doesn't mean I caught this one. I did admit that I forgot to drop a bassline! Doep!
Thanks 12!

Trout might have sounded better than bass, but it sounds better good. Carlo's voice sounds really swell, by the way.

i like it much better with the bass. i really have always dug this song, it's your "freebird" huh? really good mix, and how did you miss the lack of bass before. i mean i did, but i'm not a bass player. great job.

i guess black & scratchy must of felt depressed the first time out.
the whole tune sounds great and electro-happy. good choices you made for the finish product.
Norman Goodman
driving rhythm section.....excellent melody.....love the guitar....really cool sound!

Cool tune with strong vocals! A little repetative in parts (and could have used a tad more development), but the overall vibe was good. It totally reminded me of some of the tracks off the album "High Society" by Enon... which is not a bad thing!

Hey, I recognize those sweet faces! They're getting older quick! Good to see activity from you all. You were one of my first favorite artists a million years ago with a different name.
Staying on topic.... Repetitive is kinda my style and I am aware of it, so I hope to be able to deal with it in the years to come. David Byrne says, "Say something once, why say it again?", but I say to my kids, "Keep saying it over and over and it gets funnier and funnier"
Thanks for the comments!

Even, if I'll fav this song till kingdom come, like 12 parsecs and Go-turtle-go, I tend to miss the brighter mix, maybe because when you're used to a version, it somehow becomes the "real" one.
I also liked the backing vox, but your take on making the wanna-be electrofriend lonesome is perfectly understandabale and working well.

Just listened to the previous version again. My preference is for this version. The vocal is superb, in fact the whole package is extremely infectious and up-to-the minute hit material. I can really imagine this as a successful radio play.

I haven't heard the previous versions, so I can't compare, but, man, this is amazing. What a great song, and brilliant performance. I think the vocal is just outstanding - great singing and great feeling. I think your point about the voice seeming vulnerable is right, and it works well. The instrumentation is spot on - nice drum sound, and the bass is solid. Really catchy and enjoyable. Nicely done. Peace.

and you have improved it. Fantastic. I think the bass works and you are probably right about leaving Carlo voice alone, however I really liked the original version as well anyway. This version does sound cleaner. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks Keith. I was sure that the only thing different was the addition of the bassline, meaning that I used the same GB file that I used to post the original version, but a few of you hear a distinct difference in the production, which I assure you, I didn't touch!
Hey, I really dig your new Space Baby.
guitapick
...the vox are perfect as is.
Bass is a nice solid bottom...I like the way you change the instrumentation...nice layering and dynamics...cool lyrics.

Is that you singing? If it is, you don't need the singing lessons, cause this style of singing is perfect for the song. The synths are cool and there are some catchy little riffs in here. Has a kind of mid 90s alternative rock sound to it, but with some more contemporary flares. Nice lyrics as well--definitely quality stuff! Only problem, there is buzzing clearly audible throughout, particularly at the beginning and end--although who am I to talk, given my use of the built-in mic? It kind of adds some lofi charm.
