Apokafunk was kind enough to allow me to have my "tinker" on one of his tunes (A Quiet Moment - http://www.macjams.com/song/44565). Recently I was listening to some music with some friends and they were fascinated by those flute-like high notes that Mariah Carey is able to achieve. So, I wondered whether or not I could pull those off myself - I attempted to throw a couple of them into this tune here .... not sure if I pulled it off or not.

... pretty much everything I record is basically improv as I tend to listen to the tune just once or twice and then just start singing ... and the lyrics often spill out as I am recording and I have to go back later and write down what I actually sang ... hahaha sort of like one big jam session for me ! I think you pulled off those high notes very well.... without having to stand on a ladder yet.

.. you know Vic .. this is one of the things I find so interesting about Macjams ... is when more than one person creates their own version of the same song ... how the melody creation can be so different ..... I did a M2 tune once ... and so did Mysti .. and so did M2 himself .. and Biba_Nova .. and then Biba_Nova got all three versions and somehow managed to mix them into ONE tune .. and as different as the three melodies were .... in the MIX they all sounded so GREAT together ..... ah such fun ... if anyone is interested in this MIX UP of three totally different collabs .. it is here: http://www.macjams.com/song/36783 (actually there are TWO Versions of this tune - this one is the Leonard Cohen Version - which I prefer) .. the other one is here: http://www.macjams.com/song/36786 (a slightly faster tempo) [ Reply to This ]
