Description:
OK. This is a little piece I recorded in 2004 at friend's home on Pro Tools. I ran it through GB to EQ it a bit more.
I recorded about 25 songs in that 2004 session. We didn't pay too much attention to the quality, unfortunately. I did some acoustic songs in one or two takes just to get them down. And we also did about 10-12 rock songs with bass, guitar and drums.
I've been thinking about posting some of these from that 2004 session, before posting some of my newer ones. (They're sounding really good, I must say). Tell me if you think it's cool to post some from these sessions.
"Blue Sky" is just a working title. I asked my daughter to say the first thing that came to her mind about 20 minutes ago and she said "Blue Sky".
I'm not the most graceful guitar player in the world, but I try. There are a few gooners in there. But, tell me what you think of the tune.
Excuses, excuses.
Dave
P.S. Thanks for everybody's support recently. It means a lot to me.

yes, by all means, post more of the 2004 session, if it's anything like this! Very lovely guitar playing - "gooners" - I'll laugh about that word for days. Really enjoyed this, Mr. Lamp
lavalamp
I've often heard John Lennon refer to those kind of mistakes as Gooners. I thought that was a perfect word.
Thanks Karen,
Dave
What a MOODY and lovely piece David. I wish you'd write words for this!
By all means, let's hear more from your 2004 sessions.
Be well!
lavalamp
We talked in the chat room. As I said I do have lyrics and the whole nine yards for this one. Maybe, I'll record it in my next session.
Thanks Mr. Wark,
Dave
It's hard for me to say that it's my favorite piece by you, yet, as you've had some other amazing numbers. But I think this is my favorite song in a while. I love the playing (I was listening and didn't hear any gooners) and the emotion of the piece.
When I get a new MP3 player, this is going on it.

lavalamp
Hey Tobi. Nice to see you around. Hope you get that new mp3 player soon.

Gooners and all I love that crazy ending like a slide into rubber stuck gum. Thats the first thing that came to my mind. Cool pic at first I thought it was cracked glass but then I realized it was trees . Enjoyed this one allot it shows your range. Of course I want to hear what happened in 2004 post em all cant wait!!
lavalamp
I though it looked like ice crystals.
I love mixing it up in other genres.
Glad you liked this.

...great sound with a really fine rhythm to roll with...
I'd love to hear the lyrics...might even consider adding an accompanying track, though it sounds great as is...
I'd like to hear more...yes....
lavalamp
I've experimented with that idea before. I'm just going to redo it one day down the road.
Glad you liked it as is, though.

this is cool, mistakes didn't bother me. love the chords and that reverbed out guitar tone is great. very spacey. post away from that session.
lavalamp
Yeah, I'll probably post a few more from that session. So many on the burner.
Thanks

This is a pretty guitar piece and the recording has a haunting tone. This would be a fun piece to pile ambient sounds on to really add to the spookiness. I say post the bits from the session. I think the songs people aren't sure about posting are usually my favorite.
lavalamp
I had a version of this with it played backward simultaneously. It sounded cool, but it was a little busy for my taste.
Thanks Brother,
Dave
cjdaley
it make sone wish to hear it finished.
lavalamp
Maybe one day CJ. Thanks.

Lightman-

Great playing. I think the quality is pretty good and brings out a lot of the subtle sounds that go with playing acoustic. I like it.
lavalamp
Thanks for taking the time. Happy you liked it.

Vic Holman
I agree that I wouldn't mind hearing more. 25 tunes, wow!
Dave I bet you have a wealth of back up material that hasn't seen the light of day.
lavalamp
I've got tons of songs. Some were just recorded not so well. Either I would have to redo them or try to fix them with GB.
I found a really cool version of "One" by Harry Nilsson the other day. Too bad I can't post it here, though.
Thanks Vic. You're a good man.
Dave
Peter Bauckham
I really like this tune. Great bit of unearthing. Thanks for posting here.

This sounds like a really interesting start for something - I like the depth of the mix.
Definite shades of V.H. (esq) in the tone.
Post away!
Neil

I'm just glad you even take the time. V.H.? Is that Van Halen or Vic Holman?
Thanks Neil,
Dave

You are their King!
I really like those buzzy "doink" sounds that you make on this song. I hope you post the rest of them. My iPod still has room for more macjams tunes.
Seriously Dave, you are the King of the Goons.

lavalamp
I guess that makes us the Goonies, huh?
