Description:
we finally finished up my instrumental tune "humdrum" with the help of our dear friend tony (soundhound)...and his incredible lead guitar skills. this is a heavy one...something greg and i need to do every once in a while to let off some steam and stay halfway sane. greg and i share lead vocal duties on this one, switching back and forth...makes it fun and interesting in my mind. we truly hope you all enjoy.
soundhound - lead guitar
greg - lead vocals
age - lead vocals, rhythm guitar, bass, synth and drum programming

Lyrics:
-GIVE HER BACK THE RIVER BED-age:
should have never loved her, should have never cared
should have never done my little deed and held her head under there
greg:
what's that floating on the water?
pale and cold somebody's daughter
lies upon the waters deep
drinking of their inky sleep
greg:
nature makes her traps for us
our systems fail and break
mother nature's on the rag
she's had all she can take
age:
water over our heads now
i can't forget, i've been forgotten
she'll pay for this somehow
i won't regret, she's at the bottom
greg:
what's that floating in the water?
all our dreams fresh from the slaughter
dead and drowned there deep beneath
we'll join them in eternal sleep
age:
dredge the water and pretend to cry
no one will know this little act was mine
dredge the water and pretend to cry
taste it on your tongue, sweet revenge...it's mine
greg:
what's that floating in the water?
all our dreams fresh from the slaughter
dead and drowned there deep beneath
we'll join them in eternal sleep
age:
dredge the water and pretend to cry
no one will know this little act was mine
dredge the water and pretend to cry
taste it on your tongue, sweet revenge...it's mine
age:
should have never loved her, should have never cared
should have never done my little deed and held her head under there
greg:
give her back the river bed X4
age:
under water, under waves
see her floating, see her face X4
greg:
the crow will eat the bread crumbs
the sun will dry the lake
by then i will be crushed beneath
the weight of my mistakes
age:
what if someone was watching?
what if someone was there?
what if beady little eyes spied what i did,
let the river take her without a care?
age:
what if someone was watching?
what if someone was there?
what if beady little eyes spied what i did,
let the river take her without a care?
greg: age:
the waves are lapping closer (should have never loved her)
brown and a-froth with swill (should have never cared)
the waves are slapping over (should have never done my little deed)
doorjambs and window sills (and held her head under there)

Lots of fear brought to me on this song. I hope we never go swimming together anytime soon ;)

....and sorry to scare you a bit ashley! we're both really nice guys, really...i swear. just nice every once in a while to let off some steam. this one is not completely about murder either...look a little deeper within the lyrics........
thanks for the listen and comment!

man, this tune rips!
I dig the traded off vocals. I think they came really good and aggressive. Plus some of the filtering effect added a nice touch.
dark but very cool lyrics as well.

thank you very much vic! really glad you enjoyed it. a bit (or a lot) heavier than our norm...but we need to do that every once in a while. just feel bad for tony...he was stuck working on this with two madmen!!! just joking...
thanks again man, your kind words are always highly appreciated!

Ministry not so rigid and with a more sense of experimentattion (on their hard songs, at least) is what comes to mind imediately.I think they would sound like this if they keep heavy with electronics after Psalm 69.
Does the lyrics also deal with the guilt of Revenge?

I may add
ageofthedeathtree
the lyrics on my end very much so deal with exactly that. strongheaded revenge that only comes back around to bite you hard...guilt. that's just on my end of it though. thanks for the listen and the kind words...and being compared to ministry is always an honor, as they have been one of my favorite bands since their early days! thank you!

thats an epic, i like the beats you play over, and with that guitar that aint too heavy goes well with the tune. Top job.

down right right down cool ... vox trade off works extremely well ... track is a ripping great trip.

to me for the genre is unique. Something to really mosh around with. Got a lot of influences here. All really right arm. I go along with the trade off worked well. Really nasty guitar,....... like smoke'en.
We got some thought provoking material on this one guys.........
Love it ! Great Rock tuuune this.

different. And very powerfully different too. Kept me entranced all the way through. Great ending. Superb.
Cheers
