I wish I had written this song (1), good one Feter (1)
Description:
I did another version of this one a few weeks ago, as I decided to go with this version for the challenge. Think Feter as performed by the Velvet Underground. I really like the way this one turned out, it sounds like the back room at Max's Kansas City at 2 in the morning, circa 1969.
I really loved this song when I heard it and am very happy to have been able to add my two cents to it.
here is the link to Feters original, which is a beautiful folk song:

here is a link to my other noisey shoegaze version:

Hearing someone else do a Feter song. You did it justice, too. Really sweet rendition.

A more obvious comparison would be Yo Lo Tengo, with the vocals sounding much Ira Kaplan and drumming soft and complex like Georgia Hubley, but YLT have much in common with VU. And in the end it sounds like MM. Really superb and you've claimed it as your own. I much prefer this version to the shoegaze version. Great!
rsorensen
great job. I'm all about your other version but this is just as good in it's own way. really like that tele. this has a really nice hazy lazy feel about it. great vocals. and hey feter - awesome song!

Kind of a Velvet Underground meets Blue Rodeo vibe to it. This is a great cover M2. Great song Feter I like your version of it too.

This is the purest compliment you could pay to our dear friend Feter. And to do so in such a wonderful way ans this is all the more.
Michael this is beautiful. You played and sang the song in the true spirit in which it was written. Kudos to you my friend.

Smooth and elegant take on Feter's song. Your vocal on this is perfectly done - a nice laidback approach, and a lovely approach to the track. Love the percussion, and the guitar work is sweet. Very nicely done. Peace.

Im a big Velvet underground fan and this has a nice slow take the edge off my stress feel. Feters version is also a very good song This is a big compliment to him! enjoyed !

cover of a good song by a great man, a great MJer...
Mr. Feter!
Micheal... you did this up extremely well!

After listening to two covers of your songs, I half expected this to be a cover of your own song. Little did I realise that it would be a cover of a cover you did already of Feter's song ;)
This is a very late at night, "just one more glass of red wine before I go" kind of version, and I really like it.

to you both. I like the light touch you have with the drums. they don't sound midi at all to me (a typical feter remark!).
yrp
clean guitar work.
I preffer this one than the shoegaze version.
Your midi drum work is awesome too and the vocals, as always, are perfect.
Of course feter is glad with this tribute.
I am looking foward for the heavy metal version.

I don't want to even think how long those drums took you - but they're worth every hour it took. This is a agonizing and brilliant version of Feter's touching original.

Yeah, if you hadn't said it, (and everyone else who said it after you), I would've said it... lots of Velvets '69 or Loaded...and maybe better recorded...
And a bit of Cowboy Junkies a la Trinity Sessions...
A very sweet and touching gift for Feter...

Wow Michael,
I totally forgot that this was a Feter cover. It pops up on my shuffle in the studio all the time and I think it's one of your finest works. Man, a double scoop of Feter and Michael - no wonder I love this song so much!
Thanks Cover_to_Cover for bringing this back to my attention. This will be a great project for a great artist, by great artists!!

Oh well - I'm here now and digging the slow groove and velvets tones.
