Description:
Song number two in the Series.... the music seemed to fit the mood of the words... I thought... maybe Jim will remember the story behind this one... hehehe...

Thanks for all the fantastic comments...

Hope you feel this...

:-)

Lyrics:
Bring me a song... I need the world to sing...
Find me the solace... of every living thing...
Cut me a slice of... life and lucky breaks...
Leave me the pleasure... and none of the heartaches...

Give me time... To work the whole thing out...
Give me the time... To let it all come out...
And give me the splendour... Of love and life so free...
Give me all or nothing... but give it all to me...

Pass me a favour... for nothing in return...
You drive me all the way... with no lesson to be learned...
Keep me out of sight of... all your parting shots...
Cause I’m the cool collector... of all your greatest thoughts...

Give me time... To work the whole thing out...
Give me the time... To let it all come out...
And give me the splendour... Of love and life so free...
Give me all or nothing... but give it all to me...

And when you are creating... don’t hang it out to dry...
The world can be all yours... if only you would try...

Give me time... To work the whole thing out...
Give me the time... To let it all come out...
And give me the splendour... Of love and life so free...
Give me all or nothing... but give it all to me...

Give me time... To work the whole thing out...
Give me the time... To let it all come out...
And give me the splendour... Of love and life so free...
Give me all or nothing... but give it all to me...

Excellent reminds me of a rock n roll version of Manu Chao
Has an arabesque feel to it, the seconds song has not dissapointed , very good!

right of the bat guitar lines and drum pattern really grabs ya.

The story is... &mdash 09/06/08 - 09:53:27 PM
...as an avid music fan, I couldn't wait for 'the next thing' from a band that I was close to. If there were long gaps between songs, I would not be able to understand why. I just thought - give me more, you know I want/need it.

Now that was in the 80s. I now completely get why it took time. The songwriter is a close friend who never explained the meaning of his lyrics. So - give me time to work it out. His style of writing was exactly what I used here in an attempt to recreate how I felt as a listener who just had to make up their own mind as to what the song was about.

Andy - this was a breakthrough in my 'musical career'. I thank you

Jim

...and meantime I had an image of a music fan having the object of their attention tied to a chair in the cellar...

And circling around... looking for time to work the whole thing out....

Oh my!!!!! Aren't words wonderful....

I like that big upright bass sound. Eerie touch of a "portishead" atmosphere in the drums and vocals. real alternative rock,in the sense it's not formulaic. The end took me by surprise.
