From Cat:
It's hard to know what genre to place a Sonic Magpie track under--so often we combine styles and dodge 'the norm.'
While the original instrumental track of "Still Here":
http://www.macjams.com/song/41777
was submitted as 'Lo-Fi,' this track has moved to a different place, though I'm not sure which genre, specifically...
When Bryn posted "Still Here," he invited me to add to it if I wanted.
So, one Saturday I sat down to record vocals just to see what came of it.
I initially recorded the chorus vox using the words "Still here" that was the song's title.
But as I finished my recording of the chorus, I 'heard' a lead voice--something not at all like my own voice: a male voice, and something more in the style of Bowie. Since I wanted to represent what else I was hearing for Bryn, I decided I'd simply improvise a melody line and words....just whatever came to mind.
One take later, I had a suggested vocal line--again not at all expecting it to be more than a guide track for another singer. Guess again...
Bryn spiffed up that lead vocal and blended it with the backing vocals, rebuilding the main instrumental from the bottom up and creating the track posted here.
Once again, I'm one lucky magpie to be working with ya, Bryn!
I love how you've incorporated my vocals into this track.
Thank you!!

Lyrics
I'm still here
Trapped in my little box of my past
Will I ever see the end of time
Wrapped in my own confusion...ticking time
Always a way out--in my imagination
Always a way out--in contemplation
Beyond the confines of this empty room..
But I'm still here.
Always present, still here.
Revolutions, battles rage around this circle
But I never leave my little box of contemplation
I'm still here...
I'm still here...
I'm still here
I'm still here
In my little room, an empty space of contemplation
I'm still here...
I'm still here...

You are correct. Your voice is used as another instrument that plays its part in the whole piece but is so integral that it wouldn't be the same without your voice. Lovely piece of music that delights the soul. Thank you.
