Description
Written and performed by Graham Butchart and friends.

This is the second of four tracks hastily recorded around 12 years ago. I (Graham) do accoustic guitar, Greg Lyons on bass, Tony whatsy on sax, can't remember the keyboard players name the drummer was a no-show so some over bearing drum machine stood in. [Hate those machines!!]

I wanted to record six of what I think are my best compo's, ran out of money at four. This is the one instrumental track, oddly no lyrics ever emerged. Anyway, I think you will like them, shades of Marastique ... but only shades.

Actually I was surprised but not dissappointed when I recorded those four songs. It was interesting how other people interpeted the songs, that was the most interesting part. I never expected them to sound the way they did. However, the instrumental was a blast. Greg Lyons was playing a six string fretless bass on that, and the next track.

"Acrobats of Reason" is the title of Graham's soon to be released book (Neil).

Drum machine or not,
this is a hot track. Very cool bass line and the sax sounds way cool. That piano part about 3 min inis also great.

Very nice track Graham. even with a flesh and blood drummer

Be well and be cool,

Jiguma diected me here.
That was wonderful. I love the guitars, piano and saxophone. It is very evocative as a light jazzy riff, (I don't know if that is the proper word) or better a journey. Loved it! Thank you.

Cool Jazz/funk?
This is a real change from what we used to do - I guess we've all moved on somewhat from the old days, but this move into a laid back jazz/funk groove was quite unexpected when I first heard it. Great playing all round (even, to a point, the drummer), and a good listen.

2 to go then!

Song of Reason
This track was an absolute delight, Greg Lyons had the perfect feel and I/he/we were getting off on what was evolving ... although I wrote it, percentage wise I was only a fifth of the sound. The middle8 piano solo is sooo cool...still makes my hair stand on end to hear it.
Since then I have written several other intrumentals, and look forward to throwing them into the ring for others to play with.
Sure is nice to hear you enjoy it ... thanks y'all.

The next two tracks are way different again.

Five "young" musicians from a lifetime ago - still making music. This incarnation of Marastique played in the early 70s in Sydney's northern beach suburbs. After not seeing each other for 36 years we have finally sought each other out and Graham ... [see more]
