Description:
My scant knowledge of Chaos Theory led me to think about the idea that a butterfly flaps it's wings it causes a tidal wave which led me to think about our world leaders and the decisions that they make and the global consequences that they have and the lack of long term thinking that goes into those decisions.
Lyrics:
You leave a trail of tearseverywhere you go
A walking disaster
A human domino
No sword, a humble pen
could kill a thousand men
and sitting in your office
you watch the sun go down
Butterfly
you flap your tiny wings
and destroy a million things
Butterfly
Oblivious, not there
to the cause and effect
So pass another law
and start another war
Send the others to the front
let the masses bear the brunt
Lean against the wall
and civilizations fall
Write your name in someone’s blood
and cause a monumental flood
Butterfly
you flap your tiny wings
and destroy a million things
Butterfly
Oblivious, not there
to the cause and effect

Thanks for dropping by.
Glad you liked it.
Don't think I used compression on guitars.
Just my rubbish Zoom 505 effects pedal
In the 'master' mixing I did use the 'Dance; dance filter' preset which seemed to punch stuff up a little.
Thanks for your comments

Great lyrical concept, and very cleverly executed. The track has a nice rocking feel to it, with a good sound (the drums and bass sound really solid) and good instrumentation. If there's anything I would change is to put a different instrumental 'color' on the chorus - maybe a different guitar sound? But this is just a nit. It's a cool song, and very well performed. Nicely done. Peace.

Thought provoking as ever.
Diolch!

How'd I miss this?
First off, you have a very cool voice and a most interesting singing style. I liked it immediately. Clever lyrics too. I like your guitar playing style and the bouncing bassline works well with the whole package.
Thanks for an excellent addition to my rockin' ipod!

Must have been the right word.
I nearly uploaded a rant by Bill Hicks by mistake.
The vocals were a bit out of my usual range but I decided to push it a bit.
I was thinking I was being snubbed but I guess I just went off the radar a bit.
Thanks for dropping by.
Glad you liked it.
Cheers

What brought me to your song was the fact that you named 4 or 5 of my favorite bands in the Favorite Drummer forum post. I said, "Man, I need to check this dude out!"
Now that I've heard it, I want more of your alt rock stuff. You've got style.

I didn't think anyone would know any of the drummers I listed.
I can only try to emulate what they do via Garageband and loops.
Will post new song soon.
Thanks for your comments

I won't miss it for the world!

I make playlists from random fridge magnet keywords (just kidding). My new playlist was "butterfly" and it includes songs from Mission UK, Sonic Youth, The Presidents of the United States, Smashing Pumpkins, Alicia Keys, The Jam and You. It's a great playlist and you're song is as valid as any of the others on it.
I just had to come back and mention that plus a few other things that I didn't mention the other 10 times I commented on this cool song of yours:
1. "You flap your tiny wings and destroy a million things" is a brilliant lyric.
2. That little section where only the drums roll is pretty dramatic and kinda makes me clench my teeth and stop breathing for a moment.
Thanks again!
kingbee
Thanks Jim
I'm well chuffed to be included with such luminaries.
This song is one of which I'm most proud..and the drum bit was a little bit that pleased me a lot.
Thank you once again for your kind words

the effect on the vocals works well. The dirty crunch on the guitar has a great heavy sound. I missed a lot of your older posts and need to catch up.

I can't remember what I did to the vocals. I think I chucked distortion and chorus on it and the guitars are going through a Zoom 505 pedal which sort of worked out..I think.
Thanks for dropping in and your comments.

I was trying get a sort of Pixies feel to the guitar solo.
