Description
Song 3 of 6... Old Raw deal...

Time for a change..?

"It's not about what you're gonna see, it's escaping from where you've been..."

Sums it up for me...

Hope you feel this too...

Lyrics
Get up one day, and decide there and then
The time has come to change
And suddenly the hammer hits home
You don’t need this any more.

Walk out the door and down by the station
You don’t care, choose a random direction;
It’s not about what you’re gonna see, it’s escaping
from where you’ve been.

Green flashes by - not grey for a change
The sky you see is blue
Where to unknown and finally you hear
The call to escape, that you needed.

Ramble in and talk to the men that you know
like brothers but you’d never know.
Feel the connection; they've been there, too
And they don’t look back, how ‘bout you?

[Piano Break]

Do your thing that is total and sheer
Forget the past, cause a new day is here
You can start again with no regrets and
Change your life, don’t hedge your bets.

You’ve escaped from this, the relief you can feel
Away from that life of the old raw deal.
You’ve broken from this, the relief you can feel
Away from the life of the old raw deal.
-
You’ve escaped from this, the relief you can feel
Away from that life of the old raw deal.
You’ve broken from this, the relief you can feel
Away from the life of the old raw deal.
-
You’ve escaped from this, the relief you can feel
Away from that life of the old raw deal.
You’ve broken from this, the relief you can feel
Away from the life of the old raw deal.

Very cool
The production on this is excellent. The sound is great, and the mix is really nicely done. Love the lyrics - thought-provoking and intriguing, and with some very effective, memorable lines ("they've been there, too
And they don%u2019t look back, how %u2018bout you?" - excellent). The buildup at the end is very sweetly done. A very cool track. Nicely done. Peace.

This one was written at a time
when I thought that I really had to give up the rat race and move to the quietest spot on Earth - the middle of Ireland. Then I went to NYC and that notion changed...! But the raw deal is still the rat race, for me.

I still like the idea of just walking away from it all, just to see what happens, but I'm not a gambler and know that I have a good thing going, so giving it all up now isn't for me. But maybe this is how other folk might feel on any given, pressure filled workday. It used to be called the blues...

Thanks again Andy for using this set of lyrics. I know that you got it immediately.

Cheers,

Jim
