Marriage of the Divine by rsorensen

Description:
Another song for my Blind Dog Sky thing. I'm still on a lo-fi heavily filtered kick, but this one clears up half way through. I used a totally out of tune kids acoustic guitar for this just because.
Lyrics:
When the sun resignsBehind the mountain's side
Then you will be my bride
and we we will sing
We will drink our wine
We will dance all night
The moon will be our light
I'll be your king
Then I'll take my bride
Up into Heaven's arms
We will live forever there
We will be as one
The day is coming soon
When I will be your groom
The Heavens will make room
For you and me
There will be no sadness
Nor hatred or violence
We will learn to love
and let it be
I'll take my bride
Up into Heaven's arms
We will live forevermore
We will be as one

...my favorite paintings. Spent lots of time in front of it at the Louvre.
Cool tune...I like the lo-fi to hi-fi switch and the way you kept the instruments in there, throughout. And the birdies, of course.
Lyrics are so fine...
rsorensen
ahhh lucky duck. i would love to see it in person.
thanks for checking this out. the birdies weren't very cooperative in my studio, but I got a couple good takes ;)

Ridd - I don't think I've ever heard a song of yours I didn't absolutely LOVE. The organ in this is positively inspired - you're just amazing guy!
rsorensen
well karen, it's only a matter of time before you do, so keep listening! seriously though - thanks. i like the way the organ turned out, too. i can't play piano at all really, but i can fake it. im not even sure what chords i was playing or if i played them right, so don't listen too closely
lengold
best productions I've heard. Love the lo fi (very authentic sounding) and then the very precise and professional sounding second half.
Lovely love lyrics and great songwriting. Superb musicianship too as always. Impressive.
Cheers
Len

I do!
Ridd, you're amazing. Love the sliding guitar sound and the lo-fi/hi-fi switch like anyone else with any sense at all. You are also one of the most underrated tambourinists here.
Love the lyrics. I coould've used 3/4 of them in my Cloud song with Vic!
You rock buddy.
rsorensen
hah no t-shirts yet. my t guy went out of business and i havent found anyone new i trust. you'll be the first to get one though when i do.

five_extra_arms
I might be the first one because I might be the guy printing them!
Enjoy your slightly broken in Hamlet Machines t-shirt. It hurt me to part with it, but I have the feeling it will heal whatever is ailing you. Is something ailing you?
Thanks for the download, Ridd.

This is cool, makes me want to try one of the cheap-o's around here, like the Univox hollow body in my daughter's room.
oh yeah, I forgot - I can't even play a good guitar, LOL
Like I said, this is really cool. Thanks!

there's a certain charm to cheap, broken guitars when they're used in the right song. cobain did it well. glad you like this thanks for the listen
rsorensen
oh - and let me know if you ever wanna sell that univox!
radiorebelde
WOW! The lo-fi sound and the slide creates a positively awesome vibe. Really really cool stuff. The shift from lo-fi to high-fi is really cool. It definitely gets the broodiness of alternative rock with a roots feel in a way lots of bands tried but often fell short of the mark, which is very impressive!
rsorensen
thanks man thats a huge compliment to me because you described exactly what i wanna do with this project. roots influenced indie rock. thanks for stopping by
Vic Holman
you know it kind of takes you back to a bygone era of the 30's (not that I was ever there of course). the small kitchen radio at the beginning blooming into the church of dog sky. break out the hymnals and turn to page 364.
rsorensen
church of dog sky. sweet! thanks vic - lovin your new one

The slide... the bee in a jam-jar vocals - then the stunning production of the full song. Great work!

Well in a astounding genius kind of way.
The rest is stellar as usual and amazingly crystalline is comparison.
Great exploration and killer song. Nice slide, too.

The beginning seems straight from the Harry Smith anthology. the switch to a clearer sound, with the organ coming is, really unexpected and effective.
lavalamp
If you ever make an album, this would be a perfect ending.
Nice.

And the whole tune is fantastic. I like the switch. The whole tune is really laid back and confident sounding. Lyrics are great. I can ponder those while I look at the picture, too.
michael2
totally blown away man. the beginning is great, did you use the radio setting for the guitar or did you do that with EQ? aside from the awesome production chops you always display, this is just a great song. wish it had gone on longer. really great track man, stand up and be proud.
Lennon714
I just said it, but I love when you bring it down like this. Don't get me wrong, "In My Head Again" is still one of the top rock tunes of 2008. Whatever you do, you do well. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
kassia
Another awesome tune, Ridd. I love the beginning of this one and then the transition into the full sound. Great lyrics, great instrumentation. Pretty much what everyone else has said!
TobinMueller
This is fab. Not sure why you used an alternative spelling for divine, tho. When you voice comes in clear, it is like the heavens open up and the light shines down. Another conceptually breathtaking moment. Well done.
rsorensen
you got me. total spelling mistake on my part!! I will fix.
Thanks for listening to a bunch of my stuff tobin. really glad you like what you're hearing and I'll be taking your suggestions to heart.
