Trying too hard Start with a drum that's a simple boom-clap, and cymbals on every eighth note. You sound like you have some good ideas, but right now the background is a bit disturbing. Check out my latest song called Desert Stars

of chordal ground with some swirly bits thrown in. I hope you get your drummer! If you were still looking at working on this mix, I'd take the drums you have way down in volume. Right now, there's lots of energy, but a lack of direction. Again, volume variation, quieter to loud, then back down again, would help in that area.
