Description
Written in Magalluf, Mallorca - August 2008. Humty Dumpty we are told was the name given to a powerful cannon used by King Charles' men in the English civil war. It was used in the siege of Colchester in 1648. For years I thought Humpty Dumpty was an egg!!!

Lyrics
Humty Dumpty . written Aug./Sept 2008.

by John Jenkins.
1. Pack a little powder not too lumpy,
Sound a little louder hot and jumpy,
Should you ever hear me call,
Catch me when I start to fall.

2.Firmly on the side of the royalist forces,
Fighting for the king, his men, and horses
Cromwell tinged with ill repute,
Fairfax wins today’s dispute.

I’m Humpty Dumpty, everybody knows my name,
I’m Humpty Dumpty, I’m the one who gets the blame,
For cracking up and falling down,
Breaking as I hit the ground.
I’m Humpty Dumpty, you can see me everywhere,
I’m Humpty Dumpty, sitting in my easy chair,
From Colchester my fame has grown,
The biggest egg the world has known.

3.Blown to the ground so hard and bumpy,
Not another sound from Humty Dumpty,
Parliament has won the day,
Roundhead rule is hear to stay.

Break

I’m Humpty Dumpty, you can see me everywhere,
I’m Humpty Dumpty, sitting in my easy chair,
From Colchester my fame has grown,
The biggest egg the world has known.

4. I’m keeping my place in English history,
The human egg remains a mystery,
Good St.Mary’s at the wall,
This is where I take my fall.

Repeat full chorus.

Only you could
re-write Humpty Dumpty - I thought it was a big egg too - well you live and learn.
I mean it, only you can do this in you own unique and original style and each and every one of them a great listen and great fun.
Lovely song and production.
Cheers
Len

hello Len
I'm sorry to be so late responding but since this new version of MacJams has arrived everything for me has slowed down here. It takes simply minutes to load some pages and then more often than not tells me that it "can't find the page in question" or something like that. To reply to comments, which I like to do as people have taken the trouble to write them takes a month of Sundays! It may be something to do with me not having a Mac I don't know but whatever it is it worked great before but there you go.

Anyway Len, thank you for your comments and your encouraging words, which as always are very much appreciated.

John.

Nursery Crime
Whatever is in the water you drink, I'd gladly share it. After this I may have to go to Wikipedia to search out Humpty Dumpty... this could changes the whole nursery crime for me. I see this as an inspired bit lyrics, and the music's just great as well. That ending... what ending?

Quit the tune,
terribly British in progression and tempo. :-) Riminesent of Henry the Eight. I am, I am to me with the cockney. Good song well executed and balanced except for the ending was a little aburmpt. With all the repeats it could have faded of into the either. Great history lesson also.

Overall it's niners across the board for me.

sorry 4 my late response-
only just noticed your comment - glad you like it - I'm sorry about the ending - what I wanted at the end was the sound of a needle being ripped away from a phonograph record, which is an idea i got from an old Zappa album called -We're only in it for the money - however I couldn't find a sample which I considered suitable. I even tried making my own as I have a couple of old wind ups here. Anyway in the end it just got left - maybe I should have done a fade!

Thank you for listening Caroline,
