Chronicles of a Dysphoric Translator by SatelliteTragedy
Genre: Alternative Rock
Fan List
Description:
I'm planning on trying to get this released as Satellite Tragedy's follow up to 'New Beautiful', which will be out later this year. I've posted this here before, but never all together as one (huge) file. Also, I made a few changes to this version.
Here's some background - I won't get into the story (it'll tell itself), but it's based on 'The Conet Project' - recordings of shortwave numbers stations. Read all about it here: http://irdial.hyperreal.org/www/conet_project_booklet.pdf
All the voice samples and some of the weird noises you hear are actual recordings of these stations.
This will eventually get a complete remaster, but I'm posting it in hopes of getting some more feedback on the composition itself, particularly during second half (Parts III-VI). I'm not sure about some of the transitions so I wanted to put it out there as a whole and get your thoughts.
Oh yeah - it's near 18 mins long so thanks for your patience if you choose to stick it out to the end ;)
Chronicles of a Dysphoric Translator
Part I. numb3rs w1thin num83r5
Part II. this cannot be decoded
Part III. ctrl-shft
Part IV. parasomnia
Part V. 1rrati0nal defeat
Part VI. translation sub_rosa

you know i was a fan of this whole project you did, and i an really stoked to see that you have the whole thing edited together. i have to leave to go to the dentist in like 10 minutes, so i will just let this play while i get ready and i will check back in later with my questionable critique. so far your voice just came in, and i can't decide whether or not the abrupt transition is amazing or if i'd like to hear the radio noises fade away under the vox. more later.

Opeing reminds me of the lonely life of a SETI operator... a la Carl Sagan's "Contact" (the book and the movie). EXCELLENT recording clarity. Reminds me of Cobain & Co. a bit, lotsa power. I listened to the whole ting while working.. it all felt of a piece. But I couldn't listen "microscopically" to the details while I worked. Generally, a hugely ambitious, impressive suite, though... congrats!

I've dl'ed this piece of fallen alien space craft for further examination. It requires many listens but so far,i think it's good that the concept does not swallow everything black-hole style. it's all balanced and the song parts are warm and varied.
Epic.

I'm not the hat wearing type, but I take mine off to you anyway.
I listened to this twice while I read through the suggested material on numbers stations. You have provided a brilliant soundtrack.
I can't personally point out anything that you could change to make this any better than it is. It flows perfectly from end to end.
Masterful blending of chaos and tranquility.
I'm feeling very paranoid.
