Description:
Most of my posts begin something like this "I haven't been around for a while...". This time it's been over a year and I'd like to sincerely thank everyone for the kind words and messages (and forum posts - too kind...). I didn't know I had so many friends here - means a lot to me.

Did this piece a little more than a year ago and if I were anything of a writer I'd tell a story about grief and gratitude explaining my self-imposed exile from making music. But how personal can you get; besides a good song shouldn't require much explanation. Sometimes a listener's experience can be much higher than the composition itself. I've seen that happen with my music in particular:)

Solo instrument is a bassoon.

I continue to be amazed and overtaken by your compositions. Your choice of sounds and how you use them create a world only you can take us to.

Your talent astounds me. I hope you continue to write music and bring it to us here. I am very grateful to have a Parichayaka playlist on my iPod, and I am always very pleased when I get to add to it. Thank you.

I'd be tempted to call this Music of the spheres (or Musica universalis); it is so beautiful, transcending.

Absolutely beautiful &mdash 09/18/08 - 10:12:28 AM
I love the positioning of the instruments in the virtual space, great balance of foreground/background. The little touches of orchestral, electronic and acoustic piano sounds blend well and are very emotive. I like the little fragments of woodwind melodies followed/mirrored in the piano. Overall, a wonderful composition.

Lovely, just lovely &mdash 09/18/08 - 11:39:44 AM
This is a great piece. It has a good eb and flow, from sparse to dense instrumentation, rhythmical to lyrical, &c.

You have great craftsmanship, and the music is great to listen to. Kudos. (And thanks for checking out my latest tune.)

A masterpiece. A great soundtrack to back an epic motion picture or to simply stun a concert hall. Thank you.

For some reason, I've had this song on my computer since February...
The iTunes play count shows how much I've liked it since then and my comment here is to show you how much I like it still.

I admire your work - I really do.

Hi..... &mdash 09/18/08 - 01:14:42 PM
This is a most wondrous piece of music.

You have a gift with all aspects of making music.

Please don't let it be another year before your next piece!!!

The build up of the piece from the beginning was so good and the whole effect was, to my ears, a joy to listen to.

Take care.

Paul

A pleasure to hear and a reminder of what an outstanding talent you have and how much it's been missed here.

Just wanted &mdash 09/18/08 - 02:46:59 PM
to say what Bowman said. Astonishing piece of music you present here! When I write this you have 8 10s out of 8, which in this case is very apt! So of course you are missed when you and your music is not here, but forgotten - never! (How is that for melodramatic effect ;-) Well it's true...

I am a big fan, I hope you know that. In this song I especially liked the first 7 minutes..!

Take care.

good things... &mdash 09/18/08 - 08:19:37 PM
...come to those who wait for over a year, such as this extremely well-crafted piece is for us here at MJ.

This is a thoughtful, substantial piece of music, polished from the very first note to the last.

The soundscape is deep and crystal-clear, like a glacier lake. You achieve an excellent sound on this recording. It is every bit as professional as anything I've ever heard, and one of the few pieces that deserves the highest rating here.

The pace unfolds so naturally and effortlessly. There are no dull spots, no unnecessary measures. The music is direct and without detours, and is the perfect length.

It is rare for me to find a piece that I cannot offer any critiques or suggestions whatever, EXCEPT to encourage you to write more music like this!

We are indeed fortunate to have you in our midst. All best wishes!

Sincerely,

Cameron

This is just incredible. The underlying soundscape is breathtaking, the production superb. Each instrument, each sound seems to be chosen with care and fits perfectly into the piece as a whole. I really loved the structure of the composition - the ebbs and flows of the piece, the rhythm of the sounds. Really just a gorgeous piece of music. I loved the crystal clear piano line coming in and out. So glad you are back - thanks for sharing this with us.

Pleasantly Surprised &mdash 09/18/08 - 09:25:58 PM
I was so happy to see a new song from you. We missed your input on this site.

As usual this is a beautifully crafted work. It seemed more contemplative than some of your other straight forward soundtrack pieces. I love the choir sound and all the combinations of rich textures. Such a pleasing piece to listen to. I hope you will be around more often.

ahhh... &mdash 09/18/08 - 10:13:49 PM
Welcome back, always.

I always love the clarity of your orchestration, even during the crescendos, things are clear and purposeful. I absolutely loved the crescendo at 3:18, where you have us shot off a cliff, and hang out in air.

Gorgeous piano and bassoon lines, wonderful choral accents, and really pretty chord progressions. And despite there being no simple "melody" for me to go away whistling, it is still a very powerful aural panorama.

I hope you have visited Magnatone's works here... she paints similar pictures in my mind with her music.

ttfn,
Drakonis

it is ethereal. however, it has much power. cumulus is a perfect name. it creates swirls of color in the mind. it creates energy in the body. it makes me want to taste the wind, and drink the sky with my eyes. thank you. 0x0

Lovely stuff! &mdash 09/21/08 - 10:41:57 PM
I've been trying to do some things with the Orchestral Jam Pack for a month or more, but can't even begin to approach the incredible quality of this - there's beautiful moments of light and shade, wonderful sound staging, excellent playing and a real mood being set and tweaked as the piece progresses.

To be honest, I was a little dubious when I saw "(.98" in the ratings box, but this is definitely way up there in terms of quality and sheer class.

Lovely post.

I am glad you are still composing. I use the same excuse but is always refreshing to go back and compose a nice tune, and this one is no exception. There are a few people in this place (and you are one of them) who can really make a professional recording that is ready for prime time, and that is on top of a great composition.
I just wish you would mention all the wonderful toys you used to make this piece.

parichayaka, this is simply beautiful.the clarity of each voice, and the instinctually paced, controlled, gradual build up of the elements lead to a wholesome, meditative experience. the mood of this particular track is again very evocative, like a sunrise!
i love the velvety sheen of the metalic pad (though only my right ear can hear that!!) and the twinkles of wood percussion - ever so sensual.
thank you for sharing this track.
