i really want to get halfway decent at logic but the beast taunts me mercilessly (1)
Description:
another experiment with Logic, this is basically a long drone with words. I deleted the last version and put up the new one (after Bryn helped me out, thanks a bunch Bryn).
Lyrics:
let's sit around and waitfor everything to change
though i know it probably won't
please don't talk about the past
just leave it where it lays
before it bites us in the ass
i wish that it would rain
wash everything away
all the things that bring me shame
i'm waiting for a storm
to bring about a flood
to wash away the things i've done
i wish it would rain
wish it would rain
anything is possible
anything can happen
if i try and just stay still
all this self examination
all this pity
all it does
is bring me down where i can't be
i wish that it would rain
wash everything away
all the things that bring me shame
i'm waiting for a storm
to bring about a flood
to wash away the things i've done
i wish it would rain
wish it would rain

that's an awesome idea. just might have to do that. thanks so much for listening.

How much I like drone music, it's often a little abstract, or more to be listened with your stomach than with your ears, plus it's really a hell to adpat to any kind of rhythm pattern. How you can manage to make emerge out of it a melody and a beautiful song is really astounding.

really glad that you liked, droney music isn't for everyone. it wqs really late when i recorded tis, so if wasn't busy recording, i probably would have been listening to something similar. i added the bass to make it easier to sing. actually wrote this song on acoustic, but decided to record it this way so i could play around with some MIDI stuff. thanks for checking in.
very good but it sounds a bit 'in the box'......needs to be run through some tape etc. and back in a few times to dirty it up. but this was a very enjoyable listen. Hey, I know your gettin into logic and fiddlin about with the plugs so disregard everything i just said. :-)
typhoon on the way.....wash time

thanks so much for the listen and for the words. i agree with the "in the box" thing. i didn't use any presets as i am trying to figure this out, but it's probably needing something on that bass sound for sure. and the vox. it's weird that logic is so much cleaner than GB, you really notice the antiseptic digital thing. no tape to dump too, but i can always try running through a bit of gain and some wow&flutter. thanks again.

dark new ones you are getting while getting yourself used to Logic are turning up very good.
No Drums! yay! (bad joke)
I mean, in vibe and mood, it imediately brings to mind a Beck song called "Runners Dial Zero".But it doesn´t sound derivative, mind you.It is just a point of reference.
Also, it reminds me of other great dark moody songs of yours like "Outside" and the majestic "Salem Witch Hunt".
I also recognize the "in a box" aspect of the song but for me it was a very intersting approach. It worked real well specially on the vocals.
Thanks for letting us follow your progress with the program (Hell, I am about to uninstall Sonar and get back to audacity´s safety and simplicity).

Michael, love the way you are always breaking new ground. Trying different approach's. Creating something unique each time out.
The lyrics were outstanding as well.

Another one to download. Not sold on the reverb on the vocal, but I can live with it. Also in Logic you can add tags when you bounce an mp3 in the options window so that the bounce isn't titled Output 1-2. I always title the bounce as the song, and then whatever iteration it is. My that synth is deep! Cool Logic stuff eh?

I haven't been listening to as wide a range of music as I should if I've missed yours. This is pure mood syrup for my morning mood pancakes. I don't mind the reverb (per Jim above), it seems appropriate, seems like everything fits the mood and no issues hearing clear vox here. Sound is clear as a ... raindrop.
this would make great mental hospital waiting room music HAHAHAHA!

I saw the two emails stating you had posted songs and I thought... wow... Micheal is really goin to town with his new logic...
But wow... You create a drone with words and wow... spectacular... I think my friend (if I can all you that!) anything you touch will turn to sound gold!
Nice work!

The low end on this envelopes you. That piano sounds fantastic. Not at all the mechanical piano sound you get in GB. If you keep this up I'm going to have to buy a thesaurus for all the accolades.

This is yet another angle on your musical creativity.
I for one am happy to go along with you for the ride.
I need to get my head around this mix so will be listening to it some more later this evening.
Take care.

that mixes well with the vocals and creates and dark atmosphere. Nice cool track, esp love the bass drone as it tickles my ears.

Cool tune. I can really feel that bass in my chest and I love that. Looks like youre diving right into Logic. I know how daunting that must be, but kudos to you for going for it.

You are a pro making cool music that is for sure.
Love this, cool work u have done in LE8... Cheers

I enjoyed this piece - and especially like the diversity you are showing these days. Good stuff!

that sub bass is deep enough to rattle my teeth through the headphones. And here I am just getting over minor oral surgery. you might of unravelled the stitches.
anyway, i think you took the shoegazing style into a different realm with this Michael. nicely done!

The melody is really pretty so the tune never becomes a bummer, just melancholy in an intimate way. The vocals are just right for the bedroom nature of the tune. I think the tune could end around 3:28 - the mood changes at that point - it gets darker and distant - but that could just be me. Reminded me a bit of East River Pipe. Very cool.

Vocals are just stellar here. Roger Waters comes to mind.
Great job M2.

THere are some spots in here where it almost sound like your playing an aboriginal horn the one that drones I dont know the name for it saw it played a few times in the subway in NY. Very interesting lyrics I dont know if its me but there seems to be alot of distortion going on with the bass and vocals. I think its a success Very warm and heartfelt!

Me my speakers I think the tweeter is gone

it is slow and strong. it is minimal, only a melody and voice to carry a message. a raindrop seems small. however, many raindrops can move a mountain. this music is very moving. lyrics are raindrops on the heart. 0x0

and the way you performed this Michael, is very telling too, in that it's as though were in a slow motion trance, watching the nightmares in this world as they happen and unfold, while feeling unable to do anything to change it. Great thinking on this one, regards M
