Description
A song about an insomniac wandering off into the night. One person played and wrote the instrumental parts and the other guy sang. The main focus of the song musically is the bass line in the verse and the interplay there with the vocals. We also wanted to experiment a bit with the song structure and get away from the "verse-chorus-verse-chorus" thing. We wanted to avoid repeating the chorus altogether, and we think we came pretty close.

Lyrics
what a strange sight
all shades of black dance in the light
of headlights on a journey
across the wall before me
the endless night looms before me
like a road without cars or turns
that lays there staring and unmoving
the mind's racing and the body's a blur of turning
though not asleep
i wake to find myself walking
a still night's journey
brings downtown before me
the streets alive before me
a new world without young or old
comes alive vibrant and glowing
all these people only matter here
why do we sleep the night away?
why do we miss this transformation?
what exactly do we lose
in this translation?
is it better to see it happening?
is it better revealed
what exactly we miss
that night conceals?
the endless night looms before me
like a road without cars or turns
the streets alive before me
climb out turn and return
all shades of black dance in the light
of headlights on a journey
across the wall before me
the endless night looms before me
like a road without cars or turns
that lays there staring and unmoving
the mind's racing and the body's a blur of turning
though not asleep
i wake to find myself walking
a still night's journey
brings downtown before me
the streets alive before me
a new world without young or old
comes alive vibrant and glowing
all these people only matter here

the streets alive before me
climb out turn and return

What a whole lot of detail work went into this, including inventive lead lines. Nicely done!
