Description:
My first attempt at vocals in a very long time. I know this song is sort of gray and depressing. It is written in a very dark time in my life. No one ever, has to be alone if you have family. I pray for change...

I didn't know what genre because the lyrics are so dark, so I put it under "other". All feedback is welcome, especially for the vocals-I would greatly appreciate it.

Lyrics:
This life of mine
is nothing but a lie...

ho ho hum

I sit here alone, by myself writing this song about nothing and nothing at all because it makes no sense It really doesn't make any sense why I go day to day living alone by myself...

Chorus:

There is no one (nothing at all)
There is nothing (No one to see)
to make me want to stay here... (Nothing to do)

ho ho hum
ho ho hum

jam

chorus:

Hardware:
Triton for all organs and guitars. Mackie 1492-VLZ line mixer. AKG mic. all layered vocals by me. Mac G4 Laptop

Software:
Garage Band

This really reminds me of Porcupine Tree (one of my fav
bands at the moment). I love the effected vocals and your
voice is perfectly tuned. I love the chorus vocals that
repeat "Nothing at all...". And those lyrics really strike a
proverbial chord with me. Very, very well done.

Thanks for the comment!

I asked myself what is porcupine tree, so I checked out their website and
listen to one of their songs. What a bizarre coincidence...they had some of
the same tones with their choices of instruments. Weird though.

Anyway thanks for listening!

Great track. &mdash 11/11/04 - 10:52:05 AM

Your vocals sound good and great harmonies. Nice effects
used throughout.
The only thing I can notice ( through my headphones) is
that the "telephone voice" is panned very far to the right
and doesn't seem balanced.
Other than that, as grey and dark as you think this is,
it is only a reflection of a moment in time..

I'll come and give you a hug!

Great track. &mdash 11/11/04 - 03:03:26 PM
Thanks slimmie for your input. I think I wanted to add more emphasis by
creating a gray cold tone on the radio voice when I wrote this piece. Listening
to it so many times you loose sight on balancing the piece. I'll keep that in
mind next time.

You're right though... it is a moment in time. Thanks for the hug!

Thanks for your comment Suzanne. I glad to hear some of the influences that
I have grown up with, in the pieces I write.

If that's what you sound like after a long time, I can
only imagine what you will sound like on your next
song.

wise :)

Excellent lyrical pop and textures &mdash 11/12/04 - 07:45:59 AM
Those "ho ho hums"s are so great! What a wonderful
piece. Wow. I just love the gently surprising chord
progression, the floating nature of the textures, the great
backing vocals, the full and complete arrangement.
Excellent song.

gloomy glooms &mdash 11/12/04 - 08:48:46 PM
starts rather abruptly, but what a rich song-there is so
much here to like. your vocals remind me of peter
murphy in places. excellent harmonies & overall 'mood'.
love the lyrics

Being able to play with this type of melodic content
SHOULD give you something to really hang your hat onto!

Your going up way up in the vote as far as my submit.

Wow &mdash 03/06/05 - 12:30:56 AM

What a great song. Yes...sad...and then again, that you
have made something beautiful like this out of a sad point
of time is the irony.
Vocals are excellent. I'd love to hear you do some more
singing in future songs.

Thank you so much.
