Keywords:
Summer (69)Autumn (27)Golden (4)rays (1)bright (12)relent (1)text (1)love (983)
Description:
I've said before, that I'm no pianist, so I had to do this in two parts first the left hand, then the right (wish I could do both together). I've had a period of non-inspiration, but this song came to me last week as i thought about the summer (Ha, Ha) that was almost over( did it begin????) and it's Autumn again already. Anyway I knuckled down and did my best starting with the drum and then the guitar tracks. I wanted a pop Jazz feel and I think I got it.... let me know LOL.

Lyrics:
Here Again

Summer came and summer went, I have feelings I must vent,
Knowing that I’m on my own again.
Text or call, I won’t relent, ‘cause being free seems Heaven sent,
I’ve been here before an’ I’m here again.

Autumn days with golden rays, warm my heart, yet who can say
If when the trees are bare, I won’t be missing you.
Time can heal I’ve heard it said, but that don’t stop what’s in my head,
Best thing is, I feel no longer blue.
Chorus
Some of us are made to love,
Some have nothing they can give,
Some of us just ache for another’s arms…
I always get burned.

Autumn rays will keep me warm, ‘cause the fire of love now has no charm,
Leavin’ me here on my own again.
I’m one of those with love to give, that’s always been the way I live,
But on my own, I won’t get hurt again.

Repeat chorus.

Autumn rays will keep me warm, ‘cause the fire of love now has no charm,
All on my I won’t get hurt again.
I’m one of those with love to give, that’s always been the way I live,
But on my own, I won’t get hurt again. oh no,
On my own I won’t get hurt again, no no no no no,
‘Cause on my own the future’s lookin’ bright again.

Hey Mo! &mdash 09/22/08 - 04:17:22 PM
Back on form me ol' mate! Nice swing to this and very pop/jazz - you got that nailed. it reminds me of the song by Alessi Bros (Oh Lori) in that it's really catchy and smooth and summery.

A real feel-good'un - better than the summer we had this year by a long shot. Cool scatting too!

I really think this is your best style - I like when you're 'up' (even if the lyrics can be taken as a wee bit melancholy)

Downloaded and straight to iPod!

Yaaaay!!

ATB - Cheers, Mo,

Jim

Hi Jim &mdash 09/22/08 - 04:26:11 PM
Glad you popped in to listen. You know I almost wrote that I'd had that song "Oh, Lori' on my mind for a while now (love that song) and I used to sing it as part of a duo when it came out, but I couldn't think of the name of the Artists. Glad you got that vibe from it and nice to see you around again my friend, thanks a lot for the nice words, cheers M

Very nice &mdash 09/22/08 - 05:01:06 PM
This is very cool, Maurice. What makes it really interesting is the contrast between the bittersweet, sad lyrics, and the smooth jazzy feel to the music. Keyboard sounds good, and this guitar is a nice counterpoint. Lovely vocal performance, and I really love the wordless singing at the end. Very cool. Good to hear a new one from you. Nicely done, my friend. Peace.

Summer &mdash 09/22/08 - 06:08:18 PM
Well timed. Here we are at the end of another summer. A touch of melancholy but all in all light and fun to listen to. The piano sounds are well played and jazzy. Here's to a summer gone by.

Thanks
Bill

I'm especially pleased that you as a pianist think that I got it sounding OK on the keys. That really makes my day and I'm pleased you like the song also, regards M

You'd have... &mdash 09/22/08 - 07:27:32 PM
...fooled me with your keyboard work. Not bad at all. It fills in at just the right level. You are in the groove with this style, that's for sure. It just cooks along with such a security in your tempo and overall performance. Your singing really makes this work, too.
So so comfortable. You might want to revisit a couple spots where the pitch doesn't quite hold up. They are minor, but you have such a great song here that they distract a bit from your near-perfection. I really like this song very very much indeed.
Peace.

And you know how to put them to a great tune. Great track my friend, thanks for sharing this. By the way, the piano sounds great.

Be well and be cool,

Hi Ed.. &mdash 09/23/08 - 11:06:14 AM
I tried to work some modern words into this to bring it up to date, so I think It might be the first song here with the word 'TEXT' included in the lyrics LOL. So pleased you like what I did here, regards M

Very Cool Song Maurice! &mdash 09/22/08 - 09:49:16 PM
This one also sounds clearer than the original....Your voice is very similar to a group called Canned Heat back in the 60's and 70's.....excellent vocals sung with great feeling....and I agree that that Pop/jazz genre really fits your sensibilities although I know you have a very broad musical pallet.....Peace, Norman

Thanks Norman &mdash 09/23/08 - 11:09:26 AM
for this nice comment..... I appreciate the Canned Heat comment too. Yes I think this is better sounding than the one I sent you, so glad you liked it, thanks again, regards M

I take it in the spirit in which it is given and I very much appreciate it.... I think the song 'Lazin' on a Sunny Afternoon' ( if that's the title) is quite a similar plodding tune, if that's what you're thinking of. Thanks for listening my friend, cheers M

Cool tune Mo &mdash 09/23/08 - 12:30:35 PM

you're sounding as good as ever and have done a grand job on the keyboards - my playing is as labour intensive as yours so I can fully appreciate how much work has gone in to this. I like songs with seasons in the lyrics (just in case you hadn't noticed)...!

Peter

Certainly labour intensive.. &mdash 09/23/08 - 05:55:16 PM
Glad you think I'm on form too, so thanks very much for that. When we have four seasons all in one day in UK, what else would we put in a song? LOL, Cheers M

...got a fine pop jazz feel on this. Seems pretty natural to me...

Bittersweet...like autumn in some ways...

Voice and lyrics are sweet...and the guitar's exactly as it should be...clean rhythm and in the pocket.

it is so good music. however, it is the singing that is the best. it is a happy sound of music, but it is a sad meaning of lyrics. it creates bittersweetness? it works very well. thank you for the song. 0x0
