Description:
Wow. I'm back. I'm alive.
It's been 10 months since I came down with pancreatitis the tail end of last year and went through no less than 4 hospital visits, an operation, and appoximately 1,771,561 doctor visits (give or take a few). During that period, I picked up my horn *maybe* about 6 times. Very frustrating that I couldn't muster the energy to even blow through my horn.
Enter: the EWI.
This stupid little electronic thing became my friend, giving me my only creative outlet while holed up in bed. It has a breath controller on it so I can make the sound louder or softer and can control how much pressure is needed to generate a note. No, it's not a real sax, and I definitely prefer *playing* a real sax, but alas it's the only thing I can use when I'm up at 2am, and this song is one of the results of that. God, I've missed being on here.
Hectorious had this ditty posted a little while back, and every time I heard it, this melody would start running through my head. I'm very happy to be a part of this little project with my mainstay homeboys karmatoburn and hectorious. You guys sound great. :)
I also have a couple of other projects that I have burning right now. With any luck you should be seeing those pretty soon too. :)

to have you back, and may I add that you sound fabulous. I hope the positive energy you get from pickin up the instruments again, helps you mend all the more. You really sent this track over the top. That wonderful unison part you play towards the end, is just a small nugget that demonstrates what separates you from the pack.
edhara
Thanks John, I really appreciate that. This was a really cool piece to work on, and there was a lot of room for sonic possibilities. I'm glad to have worked with you on it. :)

Great control and command of the instrument... sounds very real (is that an original soundbank? I just invested in Patchman - great addition to an incredible hardware that is 4000S).
Glad to have you back... jam on!
edhara
Thanks, my friend. I really appreciate that. :)
I ended up buying my EWI used and it already had the patchman soundbank on it, so I'm just using those. I don't think I've ever heard or used the stock sounds that actually came with the EWI.
Moviz
and really smooth with great sounds played with excellence. Glad you're on the mend now after that long incapacitation and hope to hear your other stuff soon, cheers M
edhara
Thanks so much for the kind comment, I *am* on the mend. Been a rough go, but definitely trying to play more. :)

Sax work is great. Very pro jazz sound. Rhythms and keys are right on. Very much enjoyed.
Thanks

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it! :)

Ed... sorry to hear it and glad you're healing... hope that goes quickly...
early on I was completely impressed with what a great musician you are... there are very few here who have MASTERED there craft to the extent that you have... and as I listen I'm reminded, not just technique, but the heart and soul... it's all there... what is this thing you are playing.... like a midi horn... it certainly reproduces the sublties of a horn player... just this month, I did a keyboard rendition of a saprano sax on a piece that I'm working on... so my ears perked up when I heard this... it has everything that mine is missing..
excellent

You've been a huge supporter of me for some time now, and I have to say that I treasure your input.
Throw your piece my way if you feel like it. I'll check it out. :)

Thanks for sharing your description and all the problems. Hope you get your sax going again. But everything seems quite nice here in this piece.
Thanks for uploaded and taking the time to do this!
edhara
... for taking the time to stop by, listen and comment on this. This project was a lot of late night fun for me. :)

Beautiful mixed and perfectly paced solos (the usual suspects - awesome job!) with enough fun sonic elements to keep you fully immersed until the last note. And an instrument can be as 'silly' as it wants to be - played by a talented musician like yourself...I was gonna write something about an ugly duckling becoming a swan...talk about silly. You know what I mean! Seriously though, glad I came across this one. Excellent piece. And great to read about your glorious return!
edhara
You're right, you know. I suppose I shouldn't call it "silly." Mike Brecker had been playing and recording with an EWI ever since the original one was introduced 20 years ago. In actuality, I do consider it an extra axe to take to a gig, though... I played it yesterday afternoon, and people always stop to take a look and ask "what the hell IS that thing?!" I think that's always kind of fun. :D
ThinkTank
as silk and that synth sure sounds soprano sax like. The keyboard sounds are very lush and nice e-piano riffing too. Smooth as silk!
edhara
I think it's really cool that you stopped by to take a listen and comment. I hope you like it. :)

I'm sure it is just the start of many happy listens. Be well. Thank you.
edhara
Thanks for your comment. It's very sweet of you and I appreciate it. Take care! :)

I'm very happy that you made this idea one your first come backs to Mac Jams. I guess it almost time for me to do the same. I can't wait to hear what else you got in store for us here.
Thanks again friend for your time and talent:0}
edhara
... can't do it without your stuff. I don't write that well, but you always leave a ton of sonic possibilities. You rock, m'man! Thank you for everything. :)
