Description
I didn't really have time for a whole song, so I sort of did a sketch that captures one treatment of the loop.

I transposed the last eight notes twice, first on A and then on F, to get my riff. I then set up the sample player in Logic Express to drop every second note by an octave. I assigned a square wave and ran it through some distortion and EQ.

The bass is another square wave split into two channels, one of which is given an amp treatment.

Interesting
I like your treatment of the loop. It does make a good sketch for a song, because it leaves you thinking about what could be added next. Even for a short piece, you worked in some clever changes and dynamics.

Thanks
Bill

Very clever SL chikoppi
This is exactly what we need to confuse the Dr.'s MCP and destroy the Q-37 LOPMAL-CARSAP system.

Nice work Brian on that loop. I would have never though of it myself, but then thinking is not my long suit.

Great work,

CSP

Attention grabbing
This is great, but I wish there were more! Your treatment of the square waves makes them jump right out at you, forcing the listener to pay attention, and creating excitement merely through timbre. The drum track was fine, but actually seemed a bit incongruous to me... I wonder what this would sound like if you tried only electronic percussive sounds (i.e., sounds not meant as emulations of acoustic percussive sounds)?

In any event, very good, and I hope you keep going with it.

The Heart Of The Machine
Love loop smash-and-twist stuff like this.... I never think of it, I usually just throw a funky suit on it and turn it lose, but this re-engineering is absolutely fascinating. I can hear the loop front and center, although what it's become is something else again. It's a-LIVE!

That second
note did sound like some Pachyderm, four sure...... Very contempor to say the least. What form of scale were you riffing with? Def.....initely dissonant. kool treatment on the loop. Your def.....initely a number one Loopertrooper here. Keep em scrambling.

Harmonic Dm
The transposed notes of the loop are: A D C C#, F A# G# A. I went with the harmonic Dm scale (I've been on a harmonic minor kick for a while now): Dm Edim Faug Gm A A# C#dim. Thanks!

Pachyderm Prance
If you ever get around to taking this further, I'd love to hear it. I really love the heavy stomping synths you've chosen. Pachyderm Prance is a good title for this composition.

I've downloaded it.
