Keywords:
Still (20)caustic (2)autumn (27)alternative (247)rock (1147)art (50)rock (1147)covered (1)slow (92)
Description:
Mixed again and vocals added, this song is complete, except the possibility of adding some cello.
I had no idea as to what to do for lyrics/vocals for this, and then they just kind of fell into place. Just as these things are supposed to.
Let us know what you think of it, as it is a little different from what we've done so far.
Thank you,
-Rain Fice,
This Caustic Autumn

Note: Since posting this, I have tweaked the vocal levels and made the screaming part more the backing vocals, and the more melodic part the main street. I'll post it again in a few weeks or something, once we've got some more stuff to go along with it.

Also, I'll keep the original, instrumental version up here in case you dug it the way it was.

Lyrics:
You move slow, as if weighed down;
as if trained how by the falling of the leaves.
And you flow as if changed somehow;
as if you learned how from the sounds and the scene.

It's all over me.
I'm covered by still waters and the sea.

Each movement counts.
You know, each time you're out your absence is so well received.
It shows when you spill out,
and the ground is covered from beneath.

It's all over me.
I'm covered by the breath of sighs left between.
It pours over me.
I'm covered in still waters in the sea.

Stay still in this dream.
We're still lovers, you and me.
So lie still in this dream.
In this room we're set free.

When it's all over me,
and I'm uncovered by the breast of sighs and screams,
your still waters will flow from me.
-Rain

even if it is a little different in some ways, it still has the "this caustic autumn" trademarks. i think it fits in nicely with the rest of your work.

a great intense track.

going into the new ipod.

Thanks, Vic.
Very reassuring.
I've dabbled in so much different stuff over the last few years and am involved in three or four different projects right now, so when something new comes along sometimes it's hard to tell where it belongs.
Thanks a lot,
-Rain

Thank you Feter.
Tee hee hee... I am a sucker for the early Floyd references.
I'm glad this song has made an impact on you.
As always, your words are very encouraging.
Thanks again,

like Vic said. Reminds me a little of The Deftones, but then again, not. Powerful vocal performance, and the dense guitar/noise layering is very effective in darkening the piece.

Deftones &mdash 09/30/08 - 10:36:18 AM
Thank you very much.
And yea, I totally hear that 'Deftones, or not' thing you mentioned. When I was recording the vocals I kept thinking of the Deftones for some reason and was worried I'd done something to rip them off, but then thought... this really doesn't sound anything like them. Either way, they're one of my favourite bands of the last decade, so a bit of similarity here and there is cool with me. Certainly the reference doesn't sting at all.

That dense guitar/noise was too much fun.

Thanks again,
-Rain

Thank you very much.
I think the composition is what it is because it was one of those pieces that didn't require a whole lot of thought going into it. I had the acoustic part written, we set up some drums and started recording, then decided what else to put on top of it, and that was it. The ones that just fall into place are usually the most satisfying, I find.

I'm glad you're digging it enough to give it a few listens.
Thanks again,
-Rain

Drawn by the changes. It builds to these points and well worth the listen!

I'm drowning in the rain...

very much Michael2.

I'm glad you can dig on this.
Yea, the bowed guitar was such a cool feeling. I'd only employed it once on the Evelyn Machine track, Glass Mantle. It was a very quiet and haunting acoustic piece.
Then, I went to see Sigur Ros last week and was like.... Why haven't I pulled out the bow for anything else?
Next thing you know, this song was done.

I wish everything went as easily as this one did.

Thanks again,
-Rain
