Lyrics:
This City[Doaders Uncle]
This city's gonna break
The pressure is too great
We sit around and calculate our fate
This city's gonna break
Let's rise above the crowd
We'll turn our minds around
Open your eyes, we'll show them what we found
Let's rise above the crowd
I thought I knew them, I only watched them in my dreams
And had I got to know them, I wouldn't be here so it seems
This city's coming down
Now it's too late to run
We brace ourselves to get our work day done
We call it "Freedom Town"

Great narration by michael2, and then Doadar's great vocal. Is that Alannah in the back? Sounds great. Lovely lead guitar there, too. Outstanding stuff. Very cool. Peace.

Maybe it's not supposed to be, nut it is, "REAL BLUES"
Doug's vocal along with Mikes background is killer. The city noises make for a very gritty track.
It just keeps getting better and better.

and Alannah's vocals add great finishing touches. This story makes me see the other side of the story- the poor city folk up against the powers that be. Who will give them a chance? Great guitar work, Outaorbit.
Doadars Uncle
I don't know quite what to say! I'm so happy people cared enough for this song to boost it into this wonderful project/concert.
Thanks for all the thoughtful additions! Everything worked out so nicely.
Also, much thanks to those who listen!
Peace,
Doug

That's a totally kickin' tune you have there. Very cool project that it got incorporated with here though, it works well.

Social commentary. Great additions. Thanks.
Alannah
Michael's intro was SO SO fitting here ... really great and I was rapt while listening to the story here .... what is ironic is this ... today I had to drive to an appointment downtown .. and took the OLD route through what is known as the "downtown eastside" .. its where the drug addicted and mentally ill live on the street .. I was SHOCKED by the numbers .... I used to drive this route all the time years ago .. and could NOT believe my eyes at the condition of the crumbling (what used to be majestic beautiful old buildings) ... and how many people were sleeping on the streets and conducting their business .... and those numbers keep growing .... it felt like a totally different planet to me ... I wish they would tear all those old crumbling rotting buildings down and build appropriate housing for these people. Ok back to the song ... luv Char's little who hooo's sprinkled throughout. And of course I was already a fan of Doadar's Uncle's original tune.

Doaders Uncle has long time been a favorite of mine as well as michael2.
When I first heard "This City" by Doug it was a "YES" moment and when he consented to come on board with us it was a "HELL YES" moment ... ahem. Needless to say all of us got tripped out by being able to play along on this fantastic tune. Alannah and Char add such sultry steamy ambience to this. We asked michael2 to give us some commentary and tho being very busy he did and it provided the perfect intro. Michael has helped me out in the past and cannot say enough about him. Outtaorbit's guitar, I think is perfect here. Eddie Fliess helped engineer the backing effects and much thanks to him.

it's going to take me forever to get through this rock opera Big Finish. It's an honor to be a part of this. Jack asked me to do a little bit of talking about my experience, and I just turned the mic on and rambled for a few minutes (I could go on for hours about this topic). i hadn't heard the song at all, and only got to listen after the fact (which was a great surprise).
so anyways, i thought i had commented, but apparently i didn't. for the record, this would be an amazing song in any context, but it's really fitting in the context provided. only thing is the sound of my speaking voice makes me cringe. great job guys.

your voice over was cool, perfect and had such an impact on this total sequence. You have always been a support of all the artist here. Thanks man .... you are the best!

Great song with overflow of talent. I make no apologies. I'm going to steal this song! (If I make a buck, I guess I'll share it.) Fine, fine work. Terry.
Outtaorbit
They have nowhere to go.
In the bible Jesus said..."The poor are always with us."
He didn't say. "Don't stop trying to help."
Char
to the 6th. Some time has passed and this is even more relevant, now, months later. :)
