Description:
Here's a new one from me.. hope it sounds ok...

Lyrics:
AFRAID OF THE TRUE
Thor Oliversen©2008

In a moment of dispair
When things look all but clear
And life is nothing but unfair

If the sight is clouded blue
No one will go with you
No one will feel it too

IF YOU SEE ME
BURDENED AND BLUE
WILL YOU LEAVE IT
AFRAID OF THE TRUE

We look at was has been
What just walked out the door
And what comes next is nowhere seen

Its often good to meet
In yesterdays event
Just like this song
we know the beat

IF YOU SEE ME
BURDENED AND BLUE
WILL YOU LEAVE IT
AFRAID OF THE TRUE

Bridge:
But finding peace of mind
Breathing deep and feeling fine
We know when life is good
But it may not be quite understood

Hardware:
Gibson ES335, Ibanez SD bass guitar, Cort acoustic guitar, Studio Projects B1 mic, Shure SM57, MusicMan 112RD amp, m-audio ProKeys 88sx

a killer ballad Thor. Some nice productions nuances (filtered voice, keyboard lines). Reminded me a little of Clapton (must have been the solo :-) That 335 sounds brilliant.

Hi John &mdash 10/01/08 - 04:48:51 PM
Cool if it reminded you a little of Clapton. He has of course been an influence over the years... I'm having fun exploring the new keyboard and have a tendency to tweak the knobs to get the piano to sound all distorted and shaky... Thanks for mentioning the 335... I'm fond of that one:)

You are definitely the MJs King of Soul. Very classy song. Sounds much more than okay to me.

your style has influences of JImi Hendrix, I can hear his style in your voice, and hear other famous people in your styles. But what I like most is that you combine it all with truly your own styles. But you know what works in this style and your bring it out quite well.

Thanks for sharing !

Hi Thor, Your style prevails! &mdash 10/01/08 - 12:12:19 AM
Strong, True/BLUE!
Your songs always hook me in, grab me, and hold me in a trance. I need to hear them again cause i dont know where to start commenting. God knows I will.

What a great sound. You chose the greatest tones and colors, to lay down a solid rhythm bed. Then; you must enjoy the rest, singing and soloing and such. It shows.
My fav part is the chord leading to the bridge.
Beautiful touch!
Your solo just seams to flow like its just coming thru u, nice n tasty.
The bridge has a John Lennon feel somehow, the fx maybe and the piano tickling in. I dig the distance in the main vocal on the bridge, together with the layerd harmonies and background melodies, you hit great sounding chords.
Cool the way your vocal the bridge delivers the hip solo.

The overall perfomance is so freeking blue. I can feel the emotion put forth in the lyric. Great song writing!
Superbly recorded n mixed to boot, bravo!

I would LOVE... &mdash 10/01/08 - 09:00:22 PM
...to have an ES335. You make it sing, Thor. Very sure handed with this genre, too...sweet songwriting...really fine stuff, man.

The ES335 &mdash 10/05/08 - 10:42:05 AM
is one I've been wanting to get my hands on for a while now. It didn't dissapoint... I actually have two ES335 clones as well, a Washburn HB35 and a Vester Mod700, also very good guitars, but I'd say that the original is one league ahead.

Thanks for a nice comment:)

That guitar tone ... &mdash 10/01/08 - 10:32:46 PM
.. is really familiar, and I really like it. Keys also a standout - in fact everything sounds great here Thor. Could maybe do with a slight increase in vocal volume, but that's a minor nit only.

I like the way you phrase the lines differently to what's perhaps more expected.

nice to hear you like the guitar tone, thanks:) Not being a keyboard guy, I have to record small areas of the song at a time to not loose control... but that's the benifit of having such tools as GarageBand, that allows such manipulation.

Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment. I appreciate it much!

really, really pro sounding. I would buy this without a doubt. For someone to be able to produce this level of musicianship over different instruments coupled with your superb voice is truly remarkable. As if this wasn't enough you write beautiful songs with great lyrics. Then, to rub salt into the wound, the production is pro level. I am getting more jealous with every word I type. Thanks for this treasured download.
Cheers

The Thor's truth comes out shining in this composition.

You bear your soul and put it out there both in your lyrics and your playing.

Your one of my favorites at MacJams.

This is a great, creative song. I like it all- your vocals, the guitars, keyboard, the EQ effects you used, the lyrics- everything. You sing with feeling, and leave it at just the right intensity. Very much enjoyed.

very nice and free flowing, sounds of Jimi in places. Your voice is lovely, as is the guitar, some sweet playing with great solo. A real musician, Sorry i missed this one earlier. Cheers.

clean sounds &mdash 10/05/08 - 07:40:34 AM
Very clean guitar(s)..very smooth vocals. And you also have a very good list of gear. On my sound system the bass seems mixed down a bit. But being a bass player by trade. I think I always say that!! Very well written.
Im going to look into betamonkey drum loops. They sound like a real drummer. This is something that lacks in my home demos. Great job!!!

Good food for the ears &mdash 11/10/08 - 11:33:33 AM
My old-school influences lead me to take a slice of The Band, some old Peter Greene-era Fleetwood Mac and some newer studio-polished condiment, some soulful but polished 90s favorite like World PArty (Goodbye Jumbo album,) and make a meal of it.

Great drum sound you have there. Enjoy your voice(s). Enjoying the guitar - well played, great effects. Can hear the Lennonesque vox at the bridge.

Got a lot of good things happening here - love the tempo too.
