Description:
Our first completed song. Kind of interesting that Iraq keeps coming up in interpretation of the lyrics even though that wasn't intended.

Please rip us to pieces with your comments. "That sounds good" is no help to us as aspiring musicians!

Lyrics:
little pink man
on a backroad in Japan
gonna tell a story
as best he can
he sits on his bag
offers a bagel
here's a fine tale
don't mind the staleness

he taps his foot on the path
tells of his empathy
for the people under the lash
like a fabled flashback
third hand for those without
shadow on the frail sprout
but they're all good people
they're such good people

carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now!
back to their shanty homes
to feed their children bones
back to their shanty homes
to feed their children bones
and they dance and laugh
and they dance and laugh

he grins and spits, slaps his leg
and tells of their legend
they fought without rest
for their direst defence
rise to help others out
cast a shadow of doubt
but they're all good people
they're such good people

carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now!
back to their dirty dens
to feed their children's friends
back to their dirty dens
to feed their children's friends
and they dance and laugh
and they dance and laugh

carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now
carry the pieces now!
back to their shanty homes
back to their dirty dens
to feed their children bones
to feed their children's friends
and they all dance and laugh
and they all dance and laugh

the first have of the song sounded like you guys were warming up a bit ... not quiet in the groove yet ... then the second lave of the song .. this tune began to serious rock .... let me go back and take another listen .. yep ... by the time you get into the "carry the pieces" bit this is pretty amazingly good. Really like the backing vox. i just think tighten up the breaks some and sync some of the lyrics a bit. Please do not misunderstand ... I enjoyed this ... pretty damn original!

A really great atmosphere in this song.... You've mastered the reverb to superb.... I like the intro, and when the guitar is on, then it sounds great....

what i was trying to say is the hook to this lies in the "carry the pieces" bit ... I think your phrasing of the lyrics in the other parts could be a bit tighter with the instruments .... main thing i hope you guys got is i really liked this track.

Jack liked it. &mdash 10/07/08 - 06:34:44 PM
It is a social commentary. It is as if these folk, the have-nots have gone crazy with want and need. I can't give you constructive criticism. As you re-do your work, it tends to get more polished. Okay. Thanks.

Darn Original : ) &mdash 10/26/08 - 07:41:54 PM
A lot of great ideas here. Roxy Music, the Doors and sonic youth. I hear touches of all of these group styles. I really like the vocals / vocalist. Not what you'd expect with the edgy-ness.
From a producers perspective all the elements are there. Some structuring edits and a Steve Nye mix... "Who is that band?".
From a bands perspective: the arrangement is weak. weak in the "Hey that sounds like a mistakes there". Like davisamerica said " ...pretty damn original". As a project this has GREAT potential.
