Description:
I feel a bit guilty about suddenly showing up and posting, since I haven't been near MJ for a few weeks and have neglected everybody's posts. Too many things going on in my life at the moment.
Fans of electrifying downtempo artist Moorlandt will probably be aware of the sequence of "Stay With Me" interludes which form a recurring diversion on his second album. They are essentially one-minute songs based around a single piano theme, featuring different vocalists, lyrics and melodies. My grateful thanks to Walt for letting me loose on this.
I'm the last in the sequence and the other artists have already set the bar incredibly high.

Stay With Me by Moorlandt
So anyway, this is Walt's piano with my melody and lyrics.
Look out for the album, coming soon!

Around me?
All we dreamed
Running down the pane
Will stay with me

No reason why you should be Rebsie - but it's good to see you here with this piece. Your vocals sound as good as ever. Super piano too!
Peter
Rebsie
Well, it's certainly going to take me a while to catch up with the stuff posted in my absence. Thanks for your support Peter.

What a nice enhancement and tender affirmation of a delicate Moorlandt motif.

Thank you Damien. A simple truth is all it's meant to be.
guitapick
...remind me of Erik Satie. So simple and direct. And perfect.
You've done a wonderful service to this piece, Rebsie. I've enjoyed the other's as well...
Jean-Christophe
More precisely, it reminds me of Poulenc songs, including "C'est le joli printemps" (in "Chansons villageoises ")... And micro sonatas by John Cage in the form of: very short and perfectly formed and led. Bravo! You prove what I always think that nothing is to be completed for long!
Rebsie
Thank you both, Bob and Jean-Christophe. As with so many things, less is more. :)
magnatone
This is gorgeous Rebsie! Congratulations!
Rebsie
Thanks Karen. I owe it to Walt really for his inspiring piano track.
regulus
short but very sweet and lovely. Nice dissonant resonance with the harmony. Hauntingly so!!
I'll be holding my breath, (I hope not to long), until the next one, which I hope will sequel this.
Interesting photo. I like the window. Is that from somewhere like around Romania, Albania or the Adriatic Sea area?
Rebsie
Thank you Regulus. The idiosyncratic piano structure gave me a chance to experiment with some strange harmonies. :)
The photo is of my grandfather, taken in about 1918 while he was serving in the First World War. I assume it was taken in England. I like the window too, which is one reason I chose the picture ... lots of symbolism in that open window.
DWL
but very effective. Haunting, otherworldly and a little unsettling.
All in all a fine piece of work :-)

Unsettling is good. :)
Short? Yes, but you know how slow I am at writing lyrics and vocal melodies. Took me two months to come up with this!

Ok so I'm looking a a old photo of a old mansion that use to be around called the Ma-Hu Mansion. And then I click on this beautiful yet haunting melody and you talk about the goose bumps and the hair on end.
Thanks, I was getting ready to get to bed.

It's always good when music and an image fit together. Glad you like it.
Epileptic Gibbon
mega talents. Two of my favourite MacJammers finally working together. What bliss, albeit unsettling bliss.
Rebsie
And I look forward to reading your review of Walt's album in due course.

stay with us please :-) Thats a lot of goodness packed into one minute. Bravo
Rebsie
I'm just emerging from a creative black hole and trying to get back into things. I hope that means I'll be around a bit more. :)

of these versions and this is no exception.
Really lovely vocals and harmonies.

I love Walter's "dysterbingly" beautiful piano piece, terse and melancholy... and your lyrics and singing are absolutely perfect to grace his notes. Always good to hear you! Best wishes for working through those life things.

Sort of a haunting feel to this one. I love the ambiance Walt's piano sets and, of course, your voice sounded fabulous.
Great post.

beautiful sound, the brevity of the piece and finality of the last line really make an impact... well done
Cameron
This series is very well-done; excellent conception of chords in simple-yet-elegant, spare piano accompaniment.
The full power of this little piece is best experienced listening to all the versions -- thanks for posting them in your description!
Your harmonies were particularly lovely in this one. Your voice always sounds so bewitching! ;-)
As an addition, it might be very interesting to COMBINE various snippets of each version into one song.
jiguma
This is the strongest I can remember hearing your voice - lovely harmonies and your wonderful pitch and timbre added to Walt's original piano track make this a winner.
