Keywords:
bass (235)guitar (911)simple (35)pop (482)
Description:
This is a simple song.
A friend of mine came up with the bass line (needs re-recording) and I added the rest around it using guitar, logic drum loops and my very limited vocal.
This was my first effort making music on a comp and although it's a bit wobbly and rough around the edges I quite like it so far, but it could be much better
Ideally I would like to replace my dodgy singing with someone capable. I think it would more suit a female vocal.
Anyway it's a work in progress.....

Lyrics:
Verse1

Hey, am I the same, you do not know
I say I'm deep, you say shallow
I don't pay attention to whats is said
I need a new direction, I'm off to bed

Chorus

Darkness crept in and it made a sound
It was the sun when it came crashing down
But I still see reflections in your eyes
When you smile smile, smile, smile smile smile at me.

Verse 2

I like whats coming round
I'm always over whats going down
you look forward to seeing the sun in his hat
(but) turn the lights down, cuz i like it like that

Chorus

Darkness crept in and it made a sound
It was the sun when it came crashing down
But I still see reflections in your eyes
When you smile smile, smile, smile smile smile at me.

Bridge

Verse 3

I can spot the difference
You think their 1 and the same
I like to sleep in in the morning but you think it's a crime
To spend the day dreaming to come alive at night time

Chorus

Darkness crept in and it made a sound
It was the sun when it came crashing down
But I still see reflections in your eyes
When you smile smile, smile, smile smile smile at me

Yeah I like the bouncing bassline very much.
The whole song was based around that so i kept it very prominent throughout.

after listening to this very cool track. Love the guitars. Your voice sounds good to me. I wish I could sing as well.

Great song! &mdash 10/15/08 - 04:14:54 PM
I like the tempo and the 'chunkiness' of the overall sound - killer bass and a catchy guitar hook. As a W.I.P it's off to a flyer...!

The panning at 'Smile' is a neat move. You say a female vocal? Either that or a rockin' out dude giving it LARGE!!!!

Like it a lot.

Very kind &mdash 10/24/08 - 07:27:46 AM
As i read more comment i'm starting to get more confident about my voice. Not great but passable. So i may redo the vocal with more ooooph! at some point and see how it sounds. Cheers

Very nice &mdash 10/16/08 - 09:05:26 AM
On your singing... You sing really really nice! In fact I'd ask in your re-mix that you bring your vox up several notches. Give it a tiny bit of reverb for ambiance and don't worry about replacing it. It sounds very good! Fits the song well.

This is a great first post.

Thanks for the comment. I'm gonna increase the vocal and add a little reverb to help it sit in there a little better as you suggest. I always welcome handy tips!
P.S. Love your robot guitar!

nice entry piece... &mdash 10/16/08 - 09:56:54 AM
Hehe... this has a bit of Rolling Stones feel to it... it is a LOT of work to record and play all these instruments, write, sing, and then mix it all together on a computer... well done! Welcome to Macjams. Your singing is actually pretty good, it has a nice bit of inflection in it. Good solid bass work, and a great piece of music.

Hi &mdash 10/24/08 - 07:35:13 AM
Yes, i lost count of the amount of hours i spent twiddling around with this song. In some cases I think i over did it with little touches. So i stripped it back for this version which sounds way better.
Still some twiddling to be done though, mainly on the odd drum beat, but i think once your happy just stop!
Don't want to over cook the egg! :)

gald... &mdash 10/24/08 - 07:38:32 AM
you liked it.
Once i heard the bass i just had to construct the whole thing around it which is why i left it pretty loud.
I'm pleased with the happy bouncy feel it has generally.
Thanks

Really like that guitar lick you've got going on. I see what you say about the bass, but it's a pretty cool line.

I mean this has a few production issues, but I like the song much.
