Keywords:
tell (7)sun (60)knowing (4)moon (37)lights (15)
Description:
A pleasant sounding 'Easy Listen' song that could well be from a different era. I entered it under 'Jazz vocal', because it does have that 'feel', though it's really a pop ballad, so close your eyes , snuggle up in front of the fire (not too close) sip your wine and..... hope you enjoy the relaxation.

Lyrics:
Tell Me

Cma7 Fma7 Cma7 Fma7
Tell me the moon just fell from the sky, tell me the seas have all just run dry,
Cma7 Fma7 Cma7 E7
I won’t ever ask, if it’s all really true, I don’t care,
Am Am7 F Fm
I’m about to confide, that nothing really matters at all,
Cma7 F G7 C Fma7/G7
If I don’t have you by my side.

Cma7 Fma7 Cma7 Fma7
Tell me the breeze will no longer blow, rivers have dried up and no longer flow,
Cma7 Fma7 Cma7E7
Tell me that the birds no longer sing at dawn, oh, oh,
Am Am7 F Fm
Without you there would be nothing at a-all, my heart will break in two.
Cma7 F Cma7 C7
If I, if I don’t have you
Bridge
F Fm C C7
This is my position, I’m givin’ suppositions, of how it all might be without you,
F Fm
There’s no way of knowing if my love would keep on growing,
D7 G7
For anyone else but you.

Don’t tell me that the sun will not shine, anyone can see it shin’s from your eyes,
Though time will always stand still, when your smile lights the room, oh, oh,
Nothing you could say would change the way I feel,
Nothing in the world seems as real….as the feelings that I’m feelin’ now for you.

Repeat Bridge.

Repeat last verse.

The Chords have all 'bunched up' in the upload for some reason. they need spreading out to the end of each line.

this has a very nice louis armstrong feel to the vocals [ a compliment] Maurice ... man this is great. No "Sorry!" to this at all as it is a very lovely track. Really nice percussion in the backing. You need a trumpet solo .. :-]

Yeah M ..... Classy!

Yes Jack &mdash 10/10/08 - 01:10:56 PM
you're spot on about it being a Louis Armstrong style song... I hadn't thought about him till you said and I'd had an afterthought about using a flute when it was too late LOL, but as you said, a trumpet would be nice too, thanks for the nice comment my friend, cheers M

This is a lovely song - really laid back, late night groove. Great construction, lovely lyrics. I agree about the solo; trumpet, guitar, sax [or something] inserted would just make this perfect.

Babadadababadadadadadaaa... Jaaazzzz! Nice!

I've been told before that I'm just an old 'smoothy', but I think it's because I've been round the block a few times and had my corners knocked off, cheers M

Being an Armstrong myself, I bet Uncle Louis would be so proud of you!

This my fave style of yours Mo - simply easy. Good Sunday afternoon listening; I'm into it!

Nice work - keep 'em coming for my collection!

You really ... &mdash 10/11/08 - 02:04:36 PM
...know how to "style" a song, Maurice. This is just beautifully written and performed. Such a comfortable feeling and a lyric to fit the romance in your voice. With this one, you have kept well inside your comfort range on the vocals and the result is so pleasantly satisfying. Very restrained mix, too, keeping everything in correct balance with your voice out front just perfectly. I love your work and am delighted to hear it (again and again).
Peace.
Paul

In your element once again! &mdash 10/11/08 - 04:20:07 PM
You have a real knack for this type of tune Maurice. I'm smiling wide and gently rocking back and forth in my chair as I'm listening...

Classic walking bass line. Nice vocal delivery, and judicious use of keys.

I agree that there's a hint of Mr. Armstrong in your vox. LOVE it!

Be well my friend!

very kind of you to say those things Michael and they are much appreciated. I love the word 'judicious' LOL, it has to be like that because it's the most I can do. I'm just so pleased that it comes out sounding reasonable, Thanks again, M

Smoooooth &mdash 10/11/08 - 04:23:03 PM
Definitely has the feel of a comfortable old favorite. The suggestions for a trumpet or sax instrumental solo are echoed here. I like your production, too. The only thing that is a little distracting -on headphones only- is the leslie speaker effect. It sounds great in the room, is a bit much in headphones. Thanks, too, for writing down the lyrics. there is just something special about a good old fashioned love song, isn't there.

Hi Kristyjo &mdash 10/11/08 - 05:23:00 PM
Thanks for dropping by and listening. Glad you liked the song and I hear what you say about the Leslie effect on the piano, though it sounds ok in my headphones I did have to take it down somewhat from what it was, with the modulation roller on the keyboard; maybe not enough though, for younger ears than mine LOL, regards M

Great song Maurice &mdash 10/11/08 - 08:26:38 PM
Sounds a little like something Louie Prima would have done. It's that kind of song my friend, and because it is it's very easy to listen and like.

Nice job on the backtracks and the vocal.

Be well and be cool my friend,

Ed

You have style :) This one leaves me with a warm feeling. The electric piano and guitar are just the right backing for your vocals here. Good one.

Thanks

Thanks a lot Bill &mdash 10/12/08 - 05:39:40 PM
much appreciated comment. I can see where others are coming from about adding a Trumpet or other, so i went back to GB and added trumpet, but to my ears it sounds a bit too crowded. Maybe I should have left an instrumental bridge for Trumpet though..... maybe I'll go try again, regards M
