Description:
Here's another song for the CBGB challenge that took place earlier this year - and what fun it was! I haven't really had much time, or inspiration, to write or record anything new of late. This was the first of four songs I recorded for CBGB and totally different to my usual songs...
Hope you enjoy this entry in the second change challenge.
"Following the Conservative victory in the 1970 General Election, Thatcher became Secretary of State for Education and Science. In October 1970 she created great controversy by bringing an end to free school milk for children over seven and increasing school meal charges"
Hope you enjoy this entry in the second change challenge.

Lyrics:
Well I don't want milk snatcher ThatcherSome of these cuts just won't heal
You've got going 'round in circles
You've got me feeling really ill
It's all the same
It's all the same
It's all the same
You tax me 'till I've got no money
No point saving for a rainy day
You lie and cheat and couldn't care less
It's no wonder we're in such a mess
It's all the same
It's all the same
It's all the same

Killer good guitar work Peter! Plus the vocals are pure and crisp!
Nice work!
Peter Bauckham
I really enjoyed the CBGB's challenge - I spent a couple of weeks listening to lots of my old punk records. I bought a bass guitar for the challenge - it is buried quite low in the mix (I'd never played one before) - which I thought was a very punk!
Thanks for your support.
Peter
Rebsie
Tremendous energy and confidence here, Peter. You should do more of these punky numbers.
She'd axed school milk for all of us by the middle of the 70s. Rotten old boot.
Peter Bauckham
You know I really love doing the punky stuff and do intend to do some more but haven't done much at all (recording wise) of late - I expect I'll get back into it in the Winter when there is less to do 'outside'. BTW - I Love that electro tune of yours!
Peter
Vic Holman
Boy Peter, this song is totally dangerous.
I like the aggressive guitars. exccellent rocker!
Peter Bauckham
Everytime that poster of yours from CBGBs appears in my itunes window it makes me laugh. Yeah, I like rocky guitars too and punky tunes are great as I don't have to worry too much about the 'fidelity' of the recording - so long as it has energy.
Thanks for listening as always!
Peter

Peter Bauckham
glad you think it was worth the wait! I'm late on everything at the moment. Thanks for your support Feter and thanks to Second Chance Challenge too!

good guitar playing there, cool tones... drums/bass/vocals all are done really well. Fidelity-wise, the production values seem very good.
Peter Bauckham
I'm pleased with how this came out - I really didn't spend too long on it - trying to stay true the the Punk ideals. Once I got the guitar sound 'right' it all went together really quickly. As there are so few tracks the mixing was pretty simple.

what a blast !! This could be longer You could have more verses really great lyrics ...!! KUDOS So FUN to hear You ROCK : )
Peter Bauckham
Yeah - it could be longer but punk (in the UK anyway) was very 'back to basics' and anti songs longer than a couple of minutes. Needless to say many of the great punks bands ended up recording 'epic' pieces - but I wanted to capture the early days!
Always great to hear from you.
Peter
SecondChanceChallenge
This is your perfect musical environment, in my humble opinion. You pick up and run where the Buzzcocks dropped their guitars.
Thanks for giving us a Second Chance to enjoy your music.
Peter Bauckham
Well I like to rock out from time to time and my taste in music is rather eclectic. Punk is a great vehicle for anti-establishment/government songs which does appeal to me.
The 'Second Chance Challenge' is a great idea - especially for people like me that struggle to meet those deadlines. I have enough deadlines at work - I can't be with trying to meet deadlines in my limited leisure time too!

Peter, this is great, love the guitar sound you achieved and the sheer rockiness of it. I remember those days well too. This is definitely my favourite of yours so far, really confident sounding performance and great production. Downloaded. Thanks.
Cheers

Needless to say I have no idea how I arrived at that guitar sound. I remember 'Maggie' being called the milk snatcher many years ago so it seemed to fit here nicely. Thanks for listening, and downloading Len.

Whoaaaa Peter!!
This is snarlin' attitude laced punk rock!
Excellent performance all around. A perfect punk rock song, perfect for the CBGB Challenge and beyond.
I want this on vinyl!!
Peter Bauckham
those were the days. Still a big fan of that format myself - love the artwork, labels and sound. Bit of a pain unearthing the turntable though. I'm still working though my vinyl collection and putting it onto CD as I seem to do most of my listening in the car!

Bob Rodgers
Love this Peter, superb song and a great rocky guitar sound! Great vocal and so well produced!
This has to be my favourite from you and a great track!
I'll say it again.....Excellent!

I had to resort to the archives (thanks to this Second Chance Challenge) to find something worthwhile to post. This was the first song I for CBGB's but ended up using 'Don't Call Us' instead. Still hoping to do your tune justice. Thanks again.

This is great. This CBGB challenge has brought out a very dangerous side to your musicality! Love it. Growing up in Ireland (where Thatcher was less than popular, to say the least!) I can relate to the feeling of frustration even if it was at a remove. Great song, terrific sound (but bring that bass up!) and excellent vocal performance. Nicely done. Peace.
Peter Bauckham
Yeah I did bury the bass in the mix a bit - being a real bass playing novice it covered up all the - not so good - bits. Thanks as ever David.
Peter
Rocha Malhada
"totally different" heh, he - but "they're all the same" kinda paradoxical, eh :)
I was so pleasantly surprised to land on this today. Nice crunchy rocker, Peter

This tune kicked in and I had to run and change my underpants!
Great punkage my friend. High energy delivery. Timeless lyrics. Clean yet appropriately crunchy mix.
You rock my friend!
Be well!

Love the driving beat and the guitars are awesome - especially the high end solo. Excellent track.

Good work, Peter. Short sweet and straight to the point. I don't mind saying this in public (aaargh - stopped myself....) change of heart....- She was the UK's worst enemy. Thank God you felt the need to express your thoughts here.
I still want to take her to court for illegally subjecting Scotland to the Poll Tax one year before everyone else - I thought it was the UK ? (or just another c*ntry - another council tenancy...!)
Nice, Peter, nice.

I'm really glad the second chance challenge came to be, or we might not have heard this tune from you. Great vocals, and really fine production! The guitar is good, too. A good listen!
Roxylee
Crisp and clear vocals, great guitar, funny art, I love it.

got problems on your side of the ocean too :)
Great therapy music is, helps you get it it out and release the frustration that politics and surely bring. Especially when you see people dang wealthy and have power. And you have to wonder how many people simple got there by being born into it. But is happens in the US for sure.
And I'm talking big money in very high places on this planet !
Thanks for sharing

So this is punk. So full of energy and rocks the house down. When you're right, you're right. We've got the same mess, here, too. Thanks.
Peter Bauckham
Thanks for dropping by. I really enjoyed doing the 'Punk CBGBs' challenge songs. Unfortunately I haven't done much since... With the state the world is in I should have a wealth of material to call upon - but it's just not been happening lately. I do hope I can get back to writing soon.
Glad you liked this tune.

... all I can say is you are pure 1977.
Love this!
Peter Bauckham
Sometimes I wish it was still 1977... Glad you enjoyed it.

Ripping punk sound. Reminds me of the song "Repo Man" by Iggy Pop.
It's no wonder we're in such a mess- No kidding.
Dave
Peter Bauckham
There's are so many songs I have to catch up with... Repo Man - I love that song - now I'll have to dig out the soundtrack LP (on vinyl) - I remember seeing the film at some real dive of a cinema off Tottenham Court Road far too many years ago!
