Description:
This is a collaboration with The Infinites (Jim). I really enjoyed working with Jim and we came up with this very quickly and instinctively. I would like to commend him for his easy going way of working and look forward to doing some more.
Jim says:
'From the beginnings as a simple back beat, we just threw ideas at each other and quickly bonded to produce this - it came out of nowhere and is what Macjams is all about; the art of creatives connecting. Thanks to Bob Dorsey for sowing the seed...
And if you don't like it, it's his fault!'
PS: Forgot to give a big thank you to The Freesound Project (http://www.freesound.org) for the mosquito samples.

Lyrics:
Chorus Len:Mosquito - I Hate You So
Verses Jim:
What Gives You The Right
To Buzz Me Up At Night?
You Mess With Me In Bed
Live Inside My Head...
Call Me Up At Three
An' I Can Hardly See
If You Are Really There
You Drive Me To Despair
Spray Can Does No Good
Get Out The Neighbourhood
Right Now You Make Me Mad
When You're Gone, I'm Not So Sad

It has been an absolute pleasure doing this with you. Your inspired subject matter led to all this (i.e. your bad mosquito experience).
Us Azerbaijanians know how to make a noise, yeah!?
Thanks for your speedy work on this - not bad for a first collab.
Here's to more!
Jim
lengold
I really enjoyed doing this too. Was very impressed with the way you took the vague idea and came up with the melody and lyric so fast. Great fun.

Delightfully bizarre. Love the almost chanted chorus. Good vocal delivery by Jim. Nice mix with heavy emphasis on the rhythm section.
A fun listen! But wait...if I DO like it Bob Dorsey doesn't get any of the credit? lol
Be well gentlemen!
lengold
Thanks Micheal. It was Jim's idea to make this like a chant and he came up with goods. Of course Bob gets the credit, it was his idea to pair us up.

Tom - really good to see you here. I am waiting and waiting and looking forward to something new from you. I haven't seen Jim, but I am certainly a heavyweight, you wouldn't want me to tread on your foot. Appreciate the listen and comment.

im gonna play it to her later, she shares in your hate. Love this, especially the synth mosi i want some of that! your voice really suit this, some more please! This is so off the wall, that bass really carries you along on your mosi trip. Ace!
lengold
I originally forgot to mention, above, that the mosquito sounds were actually real samples from the freesound project. So can't take any praise for how they sounded. Jim played all of the synth parts in this - I did the rhythm bits and the final mix.
Thanks for the listen Steve - very appreciated.

From now on the horrible high pitch sound of a mosquito buzzing around my ears in the dark whilst I try to go to sleep will forever be linked to this song. And I will be that much less pissed off about the whole situation. Thank you for a great song .
lengold
to somehow make that less traumatic then I am very pleased. The idea for this came from one night I had a couple of years ago. I pulled the covers up to cover my face - but every time I started to drift off my grip relaxed and that little b*stard flew around my head causing me to pull the covers back up. I spent all night doing that, a nightmare of a night.
Really pleased you liked it Christopher and thanks.
Cheers
Len
the korrelation between song txt and music is great1
lengold
Really appreciate the comment and very, very pleased you liked it.

this is by far the best mosquito song I've heard. Ugh! that noise it's makin me itch just hearing it.
good one!
hey, you ever take out a mosquito with a shotgun?
verrry effective, not too good for the walls though.
lengold
What a good idea - instant air conditioning too. Thanks for the listen and comment.

tribute to my least favorite insect- absolutely brilliant!Should be part of a suite, you could call the next song Bite Me.
lengold
Is that a three piece suite? I've had some in the past that probably did! Jim was absolutely brilliant in coming up with this just based on a beat and my mosquito suggestion. I think he would have a field day with 'Bite Me'.
Cheers
Len

Excellent stuff. Really catchy, and somehow dark and ominous at the same time! Not sure how you managed that! Really good sound on this - love the drums - and the voices are really effective. A very good track. Truly original and very cool. Nicely done to you both. Let's hear more from the two of you together! Peace.
lengold
Really pleased you liked this David. I can't praise Jim enough for what he did here.
Thanks for the comment - really appreciated.

I saw it coming. I was annoyed. I tried to swish it away, but it was no use. It just makes perfect sense that you two would work together. This is a dream team in action.
Len, I've waited for this song from you. Jim, quit blaming me for your Azerbaijanian stylings!! Now that you two are drinking the same "coffee" it's hard to distinguish your vocals. They work so well together. I just hope this exploration continues. I see the future and I know the the humans did not die in vein (sp). It was your mosquito sample that drove them to extinction.
Come to Florida to fully understand the mosquito. Come to Florida and hate the mosquito. Come to Florida, the mosquito is our state bird.
Mosquito - I hate you so.
Bob
lengold
Come to England (or Scotland or Azerbaijan) instead Bob but leave your birds behind - we don't want them here for sure.
So, this was all your fault - the late nights, the worry, the anguish, the vodkas, the thousand emails - I hope you are thoroughly ashamed of yourself. But it was worth it - thanks Bob.
Cheers
Len
The Infinites
Those 2 words - Bob & Dorsey.
If they didn't exist, neither would this song.
One day we'll all git t'ge'thaa!!

Totally 'out there' and yet, we all can empathize. Great bass. Great vocals. Annoying subject matter well represented with that buzzing.
lengold
...is a word I really like. Thanks.
Cheers
Len
but not many. No skeeters where I live. Hehe. This could be about a very annoying person, or it might be about flying pests. In any case, great stuff. Love the heavy rhythm section and the chanty vocals. But now, dammit, I'm getting the itchies.
lengold
What could be better than making someone itch? Really pleased you enjoyed and thanks.

....Pete Brown from the early 70s.
We've just started the mossie season here - killed 4 last night. I have an awful feeling that this song might keep me awake tonight - just waiting for one to cruise in.
Really interesting post Len.
That soundclip is just too real!
Neil
lengold
where you can buy a mosquito net from? Before our holiday this year I looked everywhere for one - like in those old films where someone was always dying from malaria. People just laughed at me. I'm glad I don't live in a country where they are rife. I would have to emigrate they seem to love me though!
I will look up Pete Brown - a new name to me.
I must also say that the post was from Jim as well - his contribution was immense.
Thanks for listening and commenting Neil I noticed how far behind you are with the song list - appreciated.
Cheers

hand me that can of Acme bug spray and the rolled up Daily Telegraph that'll fettle this feller...this a belter, great fun with a swingy middle eastern drum beat and then the 'strained' sounds on top...oooh 'ell I know what I mean.Jarvoid
lengold
I know what you mean too Chris. Thanks for the listen - funny you thought Middle Eastern - I love those beats but hadn't connected them to this.
Thanks again.

The music is really good esp the drumming and percussion. Very cool collab as it must of taken the best of both worlds to make it. The lyrics are so funny and go so well with the music, the whole track is really enjoyable. Nice one Guys, look forward to hearing more.

Many thanks to you all for commenting, faving and/or DLing. I am proud to have worked with Len - what a straight-up guy to make songs with. A real 50/50 split on this - no divas!
Following on from 5EA's suggestion to get together, Len and I immediately set about it in an organic way, f'rinstance I say, "Hey, Len, pick a subject for our song" Len comes back with "Mosquitos", I say "OK" and that's how it went. Brilliant way to work. I am so pleased about this and your collective reaction.
Cheers!
Jim
lengold
he'd say 'Off for a G and T' and I'd say good idea 'I'm off for a vodka'.
Great fun Jim.

That explains a lot!

the 'I hate Mosquito's' Club could be one of the biggest in the world. maybe we should start a website (probably already there) but if not, we could sell it after two years for £zillions.
Really appreciate your support Peter.

from the start I'm slapping at imaginary mosquitoes.
cool tune guys. heavy and tribal and a lot of ddt for everyone.
at least we get the last laugh as the temperature drops, and mosquitoes drop like "flys"....... which brings us to another pest.
lengold
have any reason at all to live - I suppose they are fish food. Well that's just turned me off fish!
Thanks for the listen and comment Vic - always very appreciated.

great collab ..it has a chant like in the temple before the sacrifice feel! Love all the sounds and of course the mosquito! Excellent!!!!!!!

This is funny and good melody. I usually try not to kill anything, but I make the exception for mosquitoes and flies (roaches too).
The Infinites
I am so grateful for your comments and interest in this one. Pairing up with Len has been an absolute pleasure. Even I want to hear more from us!
Sorry for being lazy and not answering each & all. Still overwhelmed by the reaction to Mosquito -thank you so much, folks!

What an unexpected collab, but what a great, left field song! Your 2 voices work well together, and the whole song has a quite terrifying, lurching, pounding feel to it. Sounds like something the Brundle fly should be singing. This is dark, dank but really catchy!
More lease, gents!
The Infinites
Great to see yo back - been toooo long!? Got anything new coming out? Hope so...
Thanks for checking us out - Len's one of the best. But We all know that anyway.
Cheers,
Jim
lengold
So pleased to see you back - you have been really missed. Made my day. You must have had your fair share of those fat little insects on your exotic travels.
Brundle Fly? Someone else to research.
I hope you have something for us soon - withdrawal symptoms.

...the mosquito...so...so...:
"bothersome"...grates on your nerves 'till you just have to SWAT that sucker!!!
Awesome...
lengold
I think that Jim and I have definitely hit a nerve here. Is there anyone that likes mosquitos?
Thanks a lot Bob for the listen and comment - very appreciated.

Really nice dark and weird groove you've got going. Is this the start of a new MJ supergroup?
I can see I'm going to have to send you some of my home-made herbal mosquito repellant - so effective it even repels humans too!
lengold
I suppose it would be superduo - well at least 'duo' is correct and Jim was super. Yes please for the repellant. I suppose you could have done with that on the Central Line.
Thanks for commenting Rebsie - appreciated.

Hi Len, I wanted to comment on this track earlier but I didn't know how. ( I didn't scroll down far enough). I'm beginning to get the hang of MJ.
What a great track. A lot of cool things about it. The concept in general.
The groove made think of "Gang of Four". I was a big fan. Man I'd love the see this performed live. It would be an experience. I guess I should pass Jim a note a well. Love it.
lengold
I'd like to see it performed live too - imagine 20 foot mosquitos flying around the audience and stabbing them with swords. Sorry, got a bit carried away there. Really appreciate the comment Miche and looking forward to hearing more of your music.
Cheers

The perfect song. This should be the song that plays at least three times a day for me. i like this song, and whatever key it is in. would be fun to mix.
i have a song called "spiders know the formula for mosquitoes in flight," inspired by the annoyance of mosquitoes while trying to record outside to pick up some night noise and not wake everyone in the house,
as a matter-o-fact i'll upload it.
have a blessed day.
lengold
'spiders know the formula for mosquitoes in flight', now THAT's a song title. Can't wait to hear it. Thanks for dropping by and the comment - appreciated.

Cool subject! You guys grew up just down the street from Nitzer didn't you? Very cool. I loved where Nitzer was heading the last few years, and you are right there! If you told me you ARE Nitzer Ebb I'd not be surprised.... Are you? Very cool.
lengold
I'd never even heard of Nitzer Ebb - looked them up now though. They came from just down the road too. I would imagine that Jim has though. He did the synth parts.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and the comment.
