Description:
"Not Sharp Enough" is a track I wrote for Excelsior production #104, "Down the Rabbit Hole". There's some pretty tense surgical stuff going on in the scene, but you'll just have to listen to the episode to find out more. I was asked to do something vaguely along the lines of Ron Jones in early Star Trek TNG, hence the synths. The title is a really sad little cheap pun on my part--Dr. Melissa Sharp is the brilliant Chief Medical Officer of the Excelsior.

This particular recording has some minor reworking and instrumentation tweaks now that it isn't trying to avoid competing with spoken dialogue. Comments are very, very welcome, as always. :)

(This is from an audio drama, but I put it under film scoring since the same basic principles apply as to its composition.)

Excellent &mdash 10/15/08 - 10:51:16 PM
As underscore for a drama, this is perfect. The tension mounts as the keys get higher and higher. I like the interplay between orchestral sound and synth sound. I would think that audio drama scoring is actually more difficult to pull off than film scoring, since you have to stay under the voices and effects while you're trying to set up a mood. Thanks for your continuing contributions from Excelsior.
