MIXED FOR HEADPHONES! The idea behind this was to show the struggle between man and machine, organic vs synthetic, and how technology is slowly consuming the planet. So the idea is Mother Nature vs Father Mechanical. I wanted to do more with it and mix a few things differently but i havnt had much time to dedicate to this.. it kinda tells a story and a partial struggle..ide like to add more synthetic/metallic sounds to combat the rainstorm and maybe add some natural animal/jungle voices in eventually.

I dig the underlying beat I was realy getting into it but then it ends I say you build it up some more I think the whole idea of man verses nature could be made into an epic or a start to some concept songs that completes an album
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks man i didnt use any loops for this I sequenced the perc using variuos kits..came out dope, the only thing i really want to work on is the mixing of the ambience..all that background stuff needs adjusting..i had to post it though cuz its such a visceral vibe and different. ide like to extend it and make it into something a lot more when i get the time...Thanks a lot for the feedback i appreciate it, this track took awhile to make!

put together, it could be longer, it is one of those ones that captivates you with time i think, i wanted it to keep on going. really interesting sounds and pieced together well, nice one.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks man, i appreciate that I'll make some time for this track and make it longer and build a story around more so then i have..its a cool idea i shouldnt go halfway with it!..thanks for the feedback

Love the cinematic atmospherics... nice balance of throbbing lows and tinkling high synth.
PrototypeEightyOne
thanks its awsome that you noticed that! I tried to keep a balance of lows and highs, notice most of the lows are the more atmospheric/earthy and the high are more metallic/synth its to keep wit the theme of an ongoing struggle between the 2..

Reminds me of a Rob Zombie movie. It would fit in nicely. Right next to Baby.
MotherofMeursault
Great range of sounds (and good samples, too). Needs to be longer so it can really build (lots of extra work, I know)
One thing, though:
When you expand this, I hope you'll let Father win.

...my headphones!
Fantastic mix - and very atmospheric. There seems to be afew tunes around at the moment about the battle between man and machine - is it a sign of the paranoid times? This is musically very imaginative and I like the interplay between the synths and the cut-up voices. I hope you dod do more with it - could be a lot longer for me!
Cheers,
Phil

thanks for the feedback and comment i appreciate it, and seeing as how people are interested in this I will definetly set some time aside to develop this more. Thanks for the motivation, it was needed lol.

Wow. From your description I was expecting this to be an epic 12 minute journey through time and technology - which it totally could be! You've got a lot of great stuff going on here. It ends just as it's getting started. I loved all the voice clips you threw in and the way you did it - production is awesome, especially in my headphones. Great synth and fx work. All around a great start on a really cool concept. Can't wait to see if you take this further.
PrototypeEightyOne
oh believe you me I will take it further :P

Thanks a lot for the interest i put a lot into this. Looks like i'll have to put a lot more into it!

This is very cool Proto - very cinematic kinds of sounds and feel. Like others, I wish it was a lot longer and could be even more developed. Great work!

Love the idea of the struggle, and your personification as Mother and Father... this could definitely be built into an epic piece of music. The use of the relentless thumping beat is great... as often used in classical music, a "motif" is a little musical idea that represents a person or idea. You have that for Dad... but I don't hear any similar opposing motif for Mom... time to work on that one. You could have washes of Industro-mechanica sounds (phone rings, car alarms, annoying and regular-interval stuff), battling against natural sounds (thunder, frogs, birdsong, etc.) Of course, I vote for Mom getting out the big guns at the end, and have a volcanic blast finish the discussion, but that's just me :-)

awsome post drak and noted. i actually messed around with car alarm sample, siren, and glass shattering, but didnt put it in this mix. I do intend on adding more natural vs synthetic sounds ie what u mentioned, birds, lions, owl.. I sort of outlined it and dabbled but didnt fully incorperate it. I'll let you know when I further this so i can get your updated opinion..i assure you you'll like where i take it :P .. Good idea with the volcanic eruption to finish it. unfortunatly im limited in my samples and knowledge of where to get free "quality" samples from safe sites.

great work here! although this sounds contemporary, it reminds of some of the stuff that came out in the 90s on labels like mute and wax traxx. and cool idea about the struggle.

....only I always root for the machinery.
Conceptually, you and I follow similar paths. We're either walking toward each other, or away from each other. Regardless, the smoke on the horizon suggests the humans will die, the machines will rust and vines will grow over the remains of both.
I love this story. Your combination of sounds successfully illustrate this ongoing battle. In the end, it's vegetation and insects.

I think you succeeded. Great as an idea for an animated film. I can see the cartoon now. Excellent, really, I think. But, you know I like you and you have lured me to the dark side. Thanks. :)
