Description:
This is the band's recording of the song i penned for my baby daughter some 16 years ago....i put it in the can for many years and 2 years ago or so i pulled it out and recorded a solo studio version. The band heard the tune and liked it so we learned it...it has taken a nice airy twist with the addition of Scott's harmonica stating the melody with the lead guitar. Scott also plays a sweet solo midway thru. As always, its the Bishops on bass and drums...they play latin grooves so well, it is such a fun, challenging style to play.
Hope you enjoy!

You and Scott match up well. This song could have come off a Spyro Gyra album with its smooth application of those latin rhythms to an original and endearing melody. Super track.
Thanks

You're going to have a heck of a time teaching this to the GB band when you finally let Libby get married...This'll be the one for the people in the crowd who actually know how to dance...
And you know, sight unseen, I probably wouldn't have thought I'd like the harmonica and guitar teaming up on the theme, but it sounds great...
Next will be the version with words... with who? Aaron Neville? Now that Lou Rawls is gone?...

ziti
because i have not found the right guy for her yet......hehehehe
Scott and I have been playing together for a long time, and we have some blues things that we do that we play unison lines...but to have harmonica in a song like this is another story...a great chromatic player like mike turk or toots could really rip this up, but scott is using harmonicas designed by Lee Oskar from the band WAR...they are 10 hole harps like a blues harp but are tuned so that minor and major scales can be played...Scott has been messing with these harps for a while, but never had a place to use them before. They have a very different tone to them...very light and airy. We also like to record scott with NO amplification, just 2 condensor mics. He has the most beautiful sound acoustically...just a really nice addition to the music. He has worked very hard on his playing and his singing and grown a great deal in the time he has been in this particular band.
I am very honored to play with these people.

really nice piece of music/writing... there's something that is a little boomy (EQ-wise, strong midrange peak) slightly right of center, and it feels like the drums are all a bit to the right (headphone-listening). But other than that, very crisp recording, the whole piece is beautifully arranged and played. Love the drums and harmonica work there... bass line is rich and fun to listen to, though perhaps a teeny bit louder? Your guitar work is always stellar... love it. Hi to Libby!

This has a really happy, upbeat sound. I'm glad you redid the recording and shared it here. The harmonica adds a lot of great character.

guitar are a great combination. This song reminds me a bit of "Why Does love Got To Be So Sad"- your playing has that Clapton/Duane intensity. As usual your tone is incredible.
