Description
I haven't done something for so long, so I thought I'd break my voice back in gently with this classic from Gilbert and Sullivan (who have been in the public domain for a couple of decades now). It also came about because during my last lecture, we were studying Blake's 'The Blossom', the last stanza of which reminded me of this song. My tutor and I ended up trying to quote it through the lecture! We failed, so I promised I;d research the lyrics and post something for my classmates to see and hear. I'm just getting over a nasty cough, so there are a few bum notes where I couldn't quite hit it.

Lyrics
On a tree by a river a little tom-tit
Sang "Willow, titwillow, titwillow"
And I said to him, "Dicky-bird, why do you sit
Singing 'Willow, titwillow, titwillow'"
"Is it weakness of intellect, birdie?" I cried
"Or a rather tough worm in your little inside"
With a shake of his poor little head, he replied
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow!"

He slapped at his chest, as he sat on that bough
Singing "Willow, titwillow, titwillow"
And a cold perspiration bespangled his brow
Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow
He sobbed and he sighed, and a gurgle he gave
Then he plunged himself into the billowy wave
And an echo arose from the suicide's grave
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow"

Now I feel just as sure as I'm sure that my name
Isn't Willow, titwillow, titwillow
That 'twas blighted affection that made him exclaim
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow"
And if you remain callous and obdurate, I
Shall perish as he did, and you will know why
Though I probably shall not exclaim as I die
"Oh, willow, titwillow, titwillow"

A classic-
I love the 'echo' effect you got. The dark humor of this piece, (or maybe the pure silliness, I'm not sure which) is fun to listen to after not having heard it for so many years. I think this was done by one of the muppets on 'The Muppet Show' many years ago.
You have a gentle, fragile voice here. Very nice.

Where's Doy'le Carte?
Yay! I loved listening to the Mikado and other G&S operettas as a kid, on my parents' old LPs. Wow, you did this as unadorned acapella.. as always, enjoy your voice, nice soft echoes as a final touch. There's a bit of hiss in the recording, but otherwise it sounded quite good.

Interesting
Firstly you have an excellent voice, and there's something quite bewitching because you are so close to the microphone (you can hear every bit saliva in there - sorry - bit too much detail, I know!!!) - what kind of mic are you using, out of interest? Also, the odd 'bum note' gives it a very natural feel. I agree with drakonis about the hiss, but hat's easily sorted - and it's very brave to go totally acapella (although I would ditch the running water - just made me want to go to the toilet! Again, too much detail.....)

Anyway, nice performance and good way of getting back into it!
