Description
A song I wrote written with a friend in 1982. It is inspired by the 1973 book 'The Dark Is Rising' by Susan Cooper - we had read it in school. A film version of the book was released a couple of years ago - I think it was OK, but it didn't quite the Harry Potter level of success that was hoped for it by the makers.

Lyrics
The Dark Is Rising
(R. Carter / B. Cooke)
Feel the heat the dark is rising
I'd really like to stay
The snow is falling
And the children sing
All except for me
Will Stanton, you the old one
Is all that I can hear
The time has come and judgement passed
The rest is in your hands
Waiting for a chance the chance is waiting
Looking, watching, anticipating
Waiting for a chance, the chance is waiting
Brain says 'go', legs can't take it
Feel the heat the dark is rising
I'd really like to stay
The people sing
And the children laugh
All except for me
Face to face with danger
My hand against my belt
The buckle's warm, then icy cold
The sign's my fingertips
Waiting for a chance the chance is waiting
Looking, watching, anticipating
Waiting for a chance, the chance is waiting
Brain says 'go', legs can't take it
I'm waiting for a chance
To dance my last dance
(R. Carter / B. Cooke)
Feel the heat the dark is rising
I'd really like to stay
The snow is falling
And the children sing
All except for me
Will Stanton, you the old one
Is all that I can hear
The time has come and judgement passed
The rest is in your hands
Waiting for a chance the chance is waiting
Looking, watching, anticipating
Waiting for a chance, the chance is waiting
Brain says 'go', legs can't take it
Feel the heat the dark is rising
I'd really like to stay
The people sing
And the children laugh
All except for me
Face to face with danger
My hand against my belt
The buckle's warm, then icy cold
The sign's my fingertips
Waiting for a chance the chance is waiting
Looking, watching, anticipating
Waiting for a chance, the chance is waiting
Brain says 'go', legs can't take it
I'm waiting for a chance
To dance my last dance

This one sounds exactly like 80's electropop... Well composed and performed.. Dig the vocals..
