Description
I don't know what kind of genre to call this. I just did what I thought I should do. It's very old (~1993) but it's one that I have always liked and have considered reworking. Recorded on a Tascam 424, etc. This one has a "drum track" created by pushing "start" on the cheap keyboard I had. You could do a few things to the beat on the keyboard, with like 3 slider switches and that was it. One would change the kick drum beat, one would change the snare, and the other one would affect everything else. I sometimes called this song "can't see the light", but "Isn't it funny" is repeated so many times that is a natural title. It's probably obvious this song was highly experimental for me. I played with several ideas such as: the rambling, almost robotic back line and the freaky-weird wah guitar, the off-time backing lyrics, the falsetto vocal in some cases, the vocal overhang at the end of the song, the guitar tracking with the vocal melody at one point...etc. All were just things I was playing around with. If I redo this song in the present of course it would have a lot more polish but the character of the song is such that I think it may be worth redoing...?

Lyrics
Isn't it funny how the world can laugh at me
Isn't it funny all the things we never see
Isn't it funny that a limit set in time
protects me with a wall, without a view outside
Isn't it funny how the fact that I'm in love
seems to be enough to keep us out of touch
You may never know what I could never say
It's shining in my eyes
a candle in the day
Can't see the light
Isn't it funny that a conflict in my mind
doesn't seem to have any answer I can find
Isn't it funny how the wonderment of love
It can drive the lovers out of touch
Isn't it funny how the world can laugh at me
Isn't it funny all the truth that we don't see
There's nothing to see...
[Chorus]
Isn't it funny how you can laugh at me
Isn't it funny all the things that we don't see
Isn't it funny how the world can laugh at me
Isn't it funny all the things we never see
Yeah
there's no way out
Isn't it funny all the things we never see
Isn't it funny that a limit set in time
protects me with a wall, without a view outside

A hell of a performance. I think it needs a solid drum track (maybe not everywhere) and you've got something ... psychedelic.
