Description
This piece is just the second version of an idea I have, for a classical piece but prepared from this and other mixes until it is complete from a more orchestral arrangement. It is far from being finished, being just a snapshot of the finished picture.

The story of the tune is that imps and devils and other denizens of the deep underground are coming out to play and the party is just getting warmed up. The Devil himself has not appeared as yet, so things are busy without them being intense.

As always please let me know what you think.

eerie and portentious...
Is this a Miltonian Devil? If so, I can't wait to meet him. Love to hear this fashioned for Orchestra too!

Hi Daniel......
There is a great deal that I could do with this rough draft and, over the Christmas break, I plan to go over some of my 'could do better' pieces and see what comes out in the next mix/arrangement.

The Milton link is quite possible, as one of my favourite childhood books was Pilgrims Progress (Bunyan I think) and I believe Milton was around the same era, and the book has Miltonian scenes, or probable ones anyway.

Take care.

Oooh....
I really love the atmosphere you've created here.
The pulsing synth is just perfect against the wandering background, and the slight build gives just the right impression of 'something bigger is coming..."

I love compositions that spur the imagination :)
Thank you for sharing!

Hi Misty.....
Your observations about the piece seem just about right on. I tried to build atmosphere and expectation as a prelude to something a little more grand. We'll see what comes out of the idea at the next installment.

I found the sounds by starting my 'theme' off and then adding other layers using contrasting sounds, until the basic mix seemed reasonable. By adding different sounds, with different decay values, I can make the same notes, on different tracks sounds 'different' as the sounds overlap and, hopefully seem made for each other.

Any list of words or phrases always, but always takes me back to the longest sentence in the world, the lyrics to 12 Days of Chrimbo, so I couldn't resist referring to it in my key words.

Take care.

I enjoy creating music using computers and 'synthesized' as opposed to 'real' instruments. I have no problem using samples/loops in my music. Everyone does this every time they work with a track. I don't fit in any box and thoroughly enjoy working ou... [see more]

Experimental music is any music that challenges the commonly accepted notions of what music is. There is an overlap with avant-garde music. John Cage was a pioneer in experimental music and defined and gave credibility to the form. As with other edge
