About a month ago, I posted 'Gentle Breezes' here.(http://www.macjams.com/song/46528) I got lots of good feedback, and reworked it for clarinet, bassoon and guitar. The melody flows more smoothly, now, and the clarinet is obviously the featured instrument in this version.

Very nice and dreamy .
Not so classical I think .
You created a kind of reverse recording effect .
Maybe a interesting direction for your music : "not so classical" :-)
kristyjo
this sounds mellow and dreamy to you. You're right, this isn't strictly 'classical' in style, but I just wasn't sure where else to put it. Thanks for your visit and your comments.

Just thought I would complete my comment :
"not so classical " means "GOOD" for me :-)

And I'm not just saying that because the clarinet is up front :-) The counter-melodies now support the main instrument, and provide nice balance... you keep the bassoon out of the clarinet's register, then you let the bassoon forward for a bit too. The guitar is wonderfully calm, but perhaps a little too regular in accompaniment strumming... I wanted to hear a little variation here and there, but that's the only suggestion I can think of. This is a MAJOR (no pun intended) improvement, you did a LOT of rework on this, and it shines now.
But I'm a little confused... this is TOO good. I could swear I heard, at the very end, some string-slide noise on the guitar, as if somebody really was playing the guitar, but you don't list "real" instruments above... did you record any real instruments for this? I assume the clarinet/bassoon were sampled, but even they were both really nicely touched up to sound played. I detect a great deal of care that went into polishing this piece up. It sounds superb.

I took some of the suggestions that you and others gave me, and I think it's a better piece all around because of that. The guitar squeaks are at the 64 velocity on the nylon string guitar. there are some 'hammer on' sounds in the 80s, and some other characteristic sounds in other places. It's kind of neat - it really does make you second guess whether that guitar is real.

...very sweet. Lots of depth. A beauty, Kristyjo

is a great name for this. Kristy, this is so very pretty.... the instruments go together perfectly, and they sound real to me. On my third listen and hearing more each time. just lovely.:-)

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! This gentle music may not appeal to everyone, but I appreciate very much that you liked enough to play it multiple times.

1. How clean this recording is
2. How pretty the melody
3. How authentically you play these digital instruments
(guitar particularly)
4. Mozart's Clarinet Concerto 2nd mvt.
5. I agree with Eduard: This is such a great number that could go even further, perhaps dropping into the rel. minor for a go-round and then recapping.
It is just lovely and I enjoyed this number thoroughly.
Peace.
Paul
P.S. Sorry I am so late getting to respond...

tune. That guitar sounds very authentic.Nice spread on the instruments.Great music!

This was a very nice composition. The melodic lines developed well between the clarinet and bassoon and were well balanced. I would liked to have heard the guitar have it's moment in the sun and carry the melody once in a while. I hadn't listened to the original but I like this very much.
