Description:
Since coming to to MacJams, I've been wanting to do a collaboration with Michael2, who is an excellent songwriter and musician. The opportunity arrived when I found his drum track entitled "Warped Grungey Electronic Drum Track" - which he kindly agreed to let me use. Some time ago, Char sent me some vocal musings and I found that they fit very well with the tone of the track. I wrote some simple lyrics around those samples and it all came out rather melancholy. So thanks to both my fellow collaborators - with a special dedication to Char after her recent car accident. I hope this gives you some joy (despite the somber tone). As always, I appreciate your feedback.

You sound like Roger Waters here. Gabriel-ish.
Dig it a lot.

What comparisons... I'm flattered. Thanks for your encouragement!

While I'm listening my window crystal is spinning sending prismatic light around the room and slowly moving over the keyboard as I write this. Befitting the tune this Sunday morning. Excellent production with hints of Portishead.
LunaTrick
of prismatic light... and I love Portishead too!

This is excellent... I shall get my one nit-pick out of the way first, then gush... I loved your use of the disjointed CharVox, but at the very end, she seemed a little too "up-front", for some reason I wanted her singing a little more disembodied... maybe a little more disorienting reverb, and with her last important word echoing repeatedly into oblivion. But that aside, I am completely in love with the make-up of this track, the music, guitar-work, gorgeous washes of singing, unusual "chord-progressions-of-ennui", and the cool un-attributed photo, all make this stunning. Wonderful wonderful work Daniel, Micheal, and Char! Oh, and because the lyrics are pretty heavily harmonized while sung, perhaps posting them here would help me read along :-) Some parts of this remind me a bit of David Gilmour's latest (On an Island) in places.

I did consider doing just that at the end - but I was going for the abrupt ending and leaving the listener yearning. I have so many echo endings and I don't want it to become a kop out. Thanks for posting such a detailed and praising commentary... you are truly a gift to this community.
I'll have to listen to Gilmour's latest - love his earlier work!

wow Daniel. Excellent job putting this all together. I love your higher vocals on this. Awesome weaving of Char's vocals into this - although I think it ends too abruptly, maybe let her final words ring out. Cool way to build a song around michael's beats. Great job on this!
LunaTrick
See above comments to Eduard about the ending. Appreciate your thoughtful insight and support as always...

man, you stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. excellent job of building on Michael's beat track. excellent collab project from all parties.

... it put me into a "trance" while listening ... very dreamy ... char's voice is great !
LunaTrick
Yes, Char's voice is unique... please encourage her to to more!

This is very interesting. I must give credit to Greg Randell, BRANCHGRAFT. The song I was singing is his: Hold me with your eyes. It is the very first piece I ever listened to on MacJams. I never knew how cellists run the universe by sheer force of their will. Daniel, it is lovely. You are still sneaky, but I love that about you. There definitely "always" is room for cello!
Thank you Daniel. Smirk!
LunaTrick
Yes - kudos to Greg. As I told you via message - I didn't know your vocal was someone else's lyric, and wouldn't have used it had I know. But since I did - and people love it - we'll just hope that he's cool with it.
Sing some more girl!

this is really great. i love everything you've done, that music is great, and I really love the vocals in this. i'm pretty much blown away by how you managed to use that drum track for a real song, there's so many glitchy stops and starts in it. dpwnloading now. thanks for including me on this one.
LunaTrick
Pleasure to collab at last. Hopefully, we'll get another chance where you have more final input!

Has a kind of Gilbert Sullivan sound and someone else I can't put my finger on. It has that 70's easy listening vibe to it. Very nice and Char fits into perfectly. Nice tag with her vox on the end as well. Great work.
