Description
Another one of my mixes. Like the others, many songs are mixed and matched to get something all together different, unique and organic sounding. Think of it playing out like a play or a movie except with sound, with different scenes, climaxes etc. This one is really good with many different turns. Enjoy!

thanks
There is one mix i would have loved to put up here. I worked on it for 8 years. Lots of incredible synchs were found with many songs. It was about 2 hours long. But, lightning struck my house one night and I lost it. I thought I had some copies of it floating around, which I did, but everyone had either lost it or scratched it beyond repair. These mixes I have up here is basically me getting back into the idea of mixing songs again because I wasnt really in the mood to pour myself into that for a long time, but it truly is a fun and creative process to see what kinds of sounds and ideas work well together if you have a large and diverse enough library. It could be thought of as just a compilation of stuff that I really like, but really interesting things do happen with the patterns of sounds that work well when overlapped. New sounds jump out of the layered subliminal sandwich that i didnt really plan on sometimes, like its a voice from between the spheres, the wave to the particle, an expression of the space, Yog Sothoth. wawawawawa :P i have to say that as much as I do mix things together, the last 'movement' of this mix is entirely coil with no layering except in the very beginning, the song is from the remote viewing album, track 4. It took me a long time to decide how to end the mix, and I finally settled on weaving in that song like the cherry on top of the sundae because it fit so well with the direction of everything.

wow
what a journey, around 2:20 it just vibrates with such a warmth and its almost visual, are you singing on this, maybe not if its a mix. I wonder what you use the mix is spot on with so many layers. Its a long piece but needs to be listened to all the way thru so many surprises on this. I m coming back to download this one, my mac is being fixed but when I get it back a download for sure thanks for sharing!!! That ending is very wild didnt expect it!

thank you

No I do not sing on it. The singing with the piano about the beautiful dancing dust is Current 93, the speaker of the hidden heaven in the mountains, rivers of milk and honey, is hakim bey which Coil actually used with music, its called Assassins of Hakim Bey. Other than that all other singing is jonathan goldman chanting, bill laswell stuff from city of light which he actually did with coil and trilok gurtu, I have some dead can dance in there that ended up fitting very nicely, and some other stuff maybe I cant remember. The track got rendered and collapsed into one track so many times that I forget some of the sources of the sounds.

For the mixes I used Acid Pro 6.0. I would just sit there for hours with a couple different players open, and the Acid Pro, and just start playing music over eachother and see if any kind of patterns emerge. Sometimes I had an already preconceived idea of what would work well together, but the growth of the music is really organic, lots of collapsing into one track for space, more adding, collapsing again, severing of undesirable pieces and doing more frankenstein work finally to get the final piece here. I dont use tone controls, but sometimes two pieces could work so well together if their timing matched better, so I would cut one or both of the tracks up many many times to get certain hits to line up with the motions of another piece of music. Other times, though, happy accidents do occur in which the songs overlaid on each other line up perfectly to begin with and do not need to be manipulated very much. I love it when you find two tracks that belong together and also find out they have the exact same bpm, though also when two tracks are "out of synch" with each other it can make sort of interesting polyrhythmic progressions that are fun to play around with.

Thank you much for your interest!

I am a big appreciator of music, especially music that has a spirit of exploration, or a mad scientist variety with lots of things mixed together. Music and sounds in general are to me in a sense very visual and colorful, from dark to light. I am a d... [see more]
